Having said that. Most people are not honest. The girl never should have left her iPad with anyone else, and has only herself to blame. It is her fault. PERIOD!
Oh, I agree, but I don't think the guy (again, assuming this really happened) should be let off with simply "oh well, sucks to be you, you shouldn't have trusted me with your iPad". He may in fact have every right to say that, but I would expect some attempt at apology and restitution.
What you did was great, and I applaud you for your honesty.
Thank you. Finding out that the owner of the car turned out to be a coworker of mine, reinforced for me that I did the right thing by owning up to it. Imagine if I had decided to run off, and then I showed up at work with a damaged left bumper and blue paint scrapes on my car, and she showed up with a badly dinged up right-side door on her blue car. Or if some security video or witness was able to identify me and she was able to track me down. That would have been far more awkward, cowardly, and possibly criminal.
Kudos to you too for finding and returning the iPad. If I lost an iPad or a cell phone or a wallet, I would hope against hope that someone would call me and return it. It's all about the golden rule...
