My call on the reason why Apple has not let any IM app push ready out?: ATT...
Think about it... If they enable push for all IM's apps, ATT KNOWS people will stop or lower their SMS plans (on which they make easy money out of). TextFree unlimited has been out, but still hasnt reached the acceptance level that Yahoo! Messenger or Beejive has. I know that there's people that own an app but never submit a review, but lets take that into consideration:

Textfree unlimited: 1369 ratings
Beejive: 3134
IM+ Lite: 2377
Yahoo! Messenger: 17396

If we add all of the big IM's (yahoo, IM+ & beejive), it equals to 22907. That is 22907 "possible" people that use the SMS plan that ATT charges. That same amount of people might lower or remove their SMS plan. in the end, it affects ATT. Im not saying it is THE reason why they havent released push on those specific apps, but it could be.

You do realize AT&T isn't the only carrier the iPhone is on right? AT&T is not the problem here.

Not all people use IM to communicate to phone users. I still use SMS for that, I just use IM for when my wife or people at work want to send me a quick message or chat from a Computer that they are sitting in front of.

I've attached some piccies.

Just got prompted to update on the appstore on my 3GS - showed as 2.1.0 - but installed as 3.0

im confirming with leemo, if you go to the beejive page and click the buy app button, it says the update is free (if you already bought it) and downloads 3.0 even though the page says its the old version, running it as we speak

Just another verification. The update didn't come across, but I uninstalled and reinstalled it and it downloaded 3.0.

Gah. I was hoping Meebo would come out so I can get a fair comparison before buying one.

Anyone think Meebo end up being better?

I was a bit unsure about spending £5.99 on an IM app - but loving Beejive so far. Only had push for about 10 minutes, but already I can see push genuinely being fantastic for most apps.

Push notifications are nearly instant (for now at least) for BeejiveIM. The UI is also quite nice. I am quite impressed.

WOOHOO it's out.

I wonder how long it has been there for...!!! Installing now...

anyone know how to get notifications to cause the phone to vibrate?

BTW the push notifications are instant.

We'll see what happens to my battery though
Edit: hmm, looks like it's either one or the other: sound + vibrate, sound, or nothing.
