And it will NOT count as txts? correct? I

I doubt any IM apps on the iPhone will ever use texts/SMS, this is only done on some handsets as they aren't sophisticated enough to run a full IM client unlike the iPhone.

EDIT: Except possibly for notifications when you don't have the app open but regardless any use of text messaging would be made pretty clear in the app description I am sure.

Good, I have heard some people saying that the other apps such as the official AIM app counted as txts, but some people said it didn't count as txts, so I was confused on which one was correct.

It is pretty ugly.. That text bubble that you type in to send a message is like the worst idea I've ever seen. Yuck! Hopefully they change that before they release their beta.

AIM - No features, only one protocol
Palringo - Horrible UI, lack of features
MobileChat - Buggy, doesn't work as intended
IM+ - No features
Beejive - Bad UI
Agile Messenger - ?

Here's why it's going to be awesome...

1) Their servers can handle it.
2) Updates will be available more often than for MobileChat
3) The interface ROCKS.

How do you figure that BeeJive is going to be updated more often than MobileChat. Twenty08 has been updating MobileChat and it is up to APPLE to give it to us. They've had an update submitted to Apple for some time now and Apple hasn't approved it yet... how do you think this will be any different for another developer? Is it because since they're bigger, they deserve faster updates? I don't think it works that way. If it did, all the flashlights would still be on 1.0

Apparently, Twenty08 has been trying to get Apple to replace the 3.0.1 update with 3.1. What's going to happen when they have 3.1.1 or 3.2 finished before 3.1 is released? Try to get Apple to release it and continue a never ending cycle of vaporware updates? 3.0.1 would have been out by now I imagine if they'd just leave it the hell alone.

If it does all the things they say it would PLUS have the features of Palringo, ie: Photo send, Push to Talk, then I'm sold.

Hmm....not seeing any way to send photos on any of the previews screens -- and looking at the webapp, there doesn't seem to be a way there either. This would be an unfortunate ommission, if it's not there...

I'm glad Apple hasn't just quicky approved any upate from MC. After the POS twenty08 released, they deserve the extra time for approval on anything they release.

i doubt it, from what i've observed, i've seen a couple of apps where updates were within a few days of each other. this leads me to believe once an update is submitted into the apple review "queue" and before it has been released, if another update is submitted, the newer update doesn't "replace" the previous one. the previous one will just be released prior to the next one and so on and so on. it doesn't seem like submitting multiple updates on different days will hold up any of the updates. each update is independent of each other.

that's what i believe happens

I have my doubts about what MC says in regards to them providing updates.. I don't necessarily think they put updates in when they say they do; and if they do I can tell you that Apple takes longer to approve their apps than they do for some other companies. Since MC they posted about 3.0.1 I've had another app updated 2x (not an app I created, one I use).

The guys at MC also mentioned 3.0.2 at one point and now they are talking about 3.1 and how they "hope Apple will bring it to AppStore in record time!" - well, ya know what - the AppStore can't do anything with it until they have it; so comments like that make it seem like delays are AppStore issues and they just aren't.

I bought MC and I hope it works and 3.0.1 or 3.1 or whatever comes out soon so the app I paid for us usable - because now its not.. BUT with that being said I'm more eagerly anticipating Beejives release and know once it comes out I'll never have a need for MC. (After all, this is a BeeJive thread!) :)

But the BeeJive app looks horrid. It has a very sketchy/mockup design look to it and I don't think I could enjoy using it like that. The web-app isn't too bad but, this just looks baaaaaaaaad. Also, I don't like MC's interface either. The text is way too small and the text input is not centered vertically inside the text box... it's just unprofessional.

if you read mobilechats blog, you know the people working on the app are liars. they already fessed up that they never even submitted the 'replacement 3.1' until just a few days ago.

I have been using the webapp of beejive I like it, I will definately buy the app when it comes out, I was looking forward to mc and it is a piece of junk, it has worked some for me in the past but it seems to have gotten worse it doesnt work at all now, the only good thing about mc is I think the icon is cool looking, but other than that its garbage.

i'm looking forward to getting this app. the only 2 things i hope are it will allow sending pictures (possible vocal im too?) and cost is less than $10.

the interface looks fine to me. could be sleeker i suppose but right now i want functionality more than anything.

I think that the pictures look fine!

Only, on the chat screen, I think the background should just be the one grey colour as oppose to the pinstripes. And the bubble colours are so confusing! I know it's meant to be the user on the right... but not in green?!

The other two screenshots... They aren't the best... but by no means the worst.

I pretty much doubt anything Twenty08 says. For one thing 3.0.1 was not sent to the store. THey just told us they did.

Then they supposedly sent 3.1 2 weeks ago. Guess what? they blame apple. Yesterday (Sept 11th) they said they had fixed everything Apple asked for and re sent the app. That gives them a time frame of about 1 week to come up with another lame excuse.

assuming they actually submitted an update to apple.

but i agree with you, the MC clowns are KNOWINGLY selling a product that even they admit in their blogs doesn't currently work. If that's not ridiculous, then i don't know what is. i don't believe a word any of those clowns say anymore. i still haven't asked for a refund, but i'm awfully tempted to, to send a clear message that this kind of bs shouldn't be tolerated.

I tell you when i'll ask for a refund: the moment beejive goes live. :D
