What is the point of having a phone if you aren't going to use it to its all potential. For example, seeing the distance and and elevation gain when I ride a bike. Using it for that doesn't seem too outrageous to me.

It would have done that fine but you were sitting on it or somehow applied enough pressure to bend it.

Nothing wrong with the 7+ as these forums would light up with bend phone and that is not happening.

If you are very lucky, Apple will replace it, if not you could just bend it back.

I like he he started with "to make a long story short."

That was a dead giveaway he knew he was at fault. I'm not even a BAU investigator.

Looks like the OP is bending the truth as well as his phone. Not sure how the phone bends like that if in a side pocket and not sitting on it. I agree with the poster above that maybe the OP damaged the phone when removing it from the case and now blaming apple for not creating indestructible phones.

If you don't subject your phone to stresses that could bend it, it won't get bent. I've got an iPhone 6+ and I'm not particularly careful with it and it has never bent. When I'm cycling, I do use a quadlock case and mount, so it's not in my pocket.

I take responsibility for bending it, I just wanted to hear about other peoples experiences with replacing a bent phone/ if they had to pay for it or if it was replaced for free. Apologies for misleading everybody.

My 7+ is the third + model iPhone I've had and I ride a mountain bike to work everyday with it in my front pocket and Apple leather case. Never had any bend in the slightest.

If you know you did something that caused it to bend you really don't deserve a free replacement or repair.
I did (eventually) get my 6 Plus replaced for free by Apple because of a bend. I posted about my experience on here and got a loooot of stick from a lot of members who refused to accept that I hadn't done anything to cause the phone to bend, but I genuinely hadn't sat on it, crammed it into small pockets or applied any sort of excessive force to it.
The bend was very subtle unlike yours, I hadn't even noticed it. The issue only came about as I had a small chip in my screen so I wanted to pay for a new screen replacement before selling the phone to a friend and Apple told me that wouldn't be possible because the phone was bent.

Wow ignore some of these rude so-called know-it-alls. Sucks you bent your phone but try bringing it to apple and see what happens just be honest and maybe you'll get a nice understanding genius. If not looks like it's up to you to replace it but if you have apple care shouldn't be too much of a hit to the wallet.

Also I'd talk to otterbox as well and see if they have any sort of warranty (wouldn't know don't use otterbox).

My comment above was to say the phone shouldn't bend while using a mountain bike (unless used in a back pocket). Maybe the OP was just unlucky and had a faulty unit that wasn't as strong as it should be.

.

In the commercial he had it on a mount.
It would be easier to see stats (altutide and speed etc) with the phone connected to a sport/smart watch. I trail run and hike a lot and rarely have to take my phone out (to check ascent, HR, distance etc) of my hydration vest now.

I think most skimmed over it because they know that putting it in the front pocket is a different angle then back pocket but I'm also sure while yours is in the front sticking up...

His was deeper in the back because if it wasn't that deep in--it would pop out of the pocket and fall out

Versus being deep enough that sitting on it, especially on a bike seat; makes a bend like that.

Exactly why people shouldn't put their phones in their back pockets when sitting.

Honestly, this is a horrible community to come to if you're having problems with your phone. Everyone takes everything so personally and instead of giving actual advice will just bash you. Go to the Apple store, see what they can do for you, but most likely you'll have to pay a deductible.

I think that's painting with a broad brush.

I'd say 45% of the posters here are good and decent people. Just have to wade through the other 55%. Go check the Benjitek guy down in Apple TV forum for example.

I've only used it on my road bike because my mountain bike is in dire need of repair. The locking mechanism is very secure though, I wouldn't have any concerns about it coming loose on a MTB.

*edit* I should note that the iPhone 7/7+ kits are pre-order only. I imagine the iPhone 6/6s/6+/6s+ kits could be made to work with the newer phones by removing some of the case material around the camera area(I'm probably going to try this with my 6+ case when my 7+ arrives).

lol what...?

If I bought my iPhone and 2 hours later I dropped it with a cracked screen are they going to replace it for free? They definitely won't.

You could try but don't be surprised if they refuse without hesitation.

Some of you are real @$$holes. Why wouldn't he take it biking, why wouldn't he have it in his pocket?? It is a MOBILE phone/device. Geez. Get over yourselves and go find another sandbox to play in children.

OP. Hope they replace it for you, no way this should happen under normal use, i.e. In a pocket or in a case.

PS

We don't know that it was normal use.

Remember "long story short."
