Went to the Apple Store today to buy a 4GB MBA after calling them and confirming they had it in stock (thanks to this forum). I knew exactly what I wanted: 11.6 inch 4GB Ram with 64Gb SSD that's it. Nothing else.
The Apple Sales Guy said certain things which made a lot of sense. Here is what he said:
-What are you going to do when a year and a half later the battery dies or you have to replace it?
-With the Student Discount Apple Care is $183!!
-If battery, logic board, or hard drive fails (any of it fails) than Apple will replace it.
-Might as well get it for that price and have the piece of mind for 3 years especially for only $183. The battery alone costs $149 and then you have to pay labor costs if you get it done anywhere else.
He ended up also selling me Apple care! What do you guys think? The battery will w/o a doubt need to be replaced in 2 years.
Also, is it true you cannot get education discount on Apple care later. You must get it at time of purchase?
