So why is my choice wrong again? Oh that right that is you putting down anything that doesn't fit your narrow POV

BTW I have an PM 12 and a S21 Ultra
Ipad....iMac...MBP

Not putting down your phone. These are just facts. You overpaid for a device that has piss poor resale value and will be outdated in 3-6 months (by other Android devices)...and in 6 months, will be surpassed by one of your own kind (if Samsung continues with Note series). It is an absolute poor choice of device...but then again, i can say that about pretty much any Android device...but you knew that already, right? That is why you’re here.

Anyone have any experience with the Sony Xperia Pro? Looking at that or maybe the new OnePlus 9 (March?) ...

My Razer is failing and looking for a potential replacement.
So, your Razer is failing.....and you decide to buy yet another Android.......and you want to try a device (1+) that has an uncertain future (without its founder) and is famous for subpar camera performance and, recently, is subpar with updating it’s older devices. Oh, and ever so often, 1+ has been exposed at selling your data to China or whatever 3rd party that is buying.

As for Sony......a company that has baffled millions of tech reviewers. A company that literally owns the camera sensor production.....yet cannot figure out how to make a software that complements the hardware. Their camera performance is just baffling bad. Hardware soooo good....yet real life performance is just bad. A display that is ultra resolution yet cannot handle the very basics of brightness and accuracy. And they are even worst than 1+ in terms of supporting their older devices!

Cause I like both platforms love my iphone and love my S21. They both do great things and they both do some not great things.

You know I have never bought a phone based on the resale value.

I've heard good things on the Sony but haven't seen one myself in person.

I think the OnePlus 9 Pro will probably be THE Android phone this year. Sort of like last year in my opinion the top dog Android phone of 2020 was the OnePlus 8 Pro followed by the Note 20 Ultra.

The OP 9 Pro should be killer, flagship specs and the smooth as butter and warp speed fast Oxygen OS.

I love OnePlus, and have owned many, but their cameras have typically underperformed. Everything else about the phone is great.

There's even more on that list. Any smartphone manufacturer that has this much bloat preinstalled on their phone, will never get my business.

You do realize that the vast majority of your list isn't actually bloat though right?

Yup...even better if the Android user(s) understand that their phones are not particularly good and have more gimmicks than real use...at least when compared to the current crop of iPhones. That is just the truth. You and others may give a hissy fit but Android phones are just not complete packages...and at times, far from it.

Now, that is a win-win for everyone.
lol kind of like that smart unlock "gimmick" Apple just added that's already 7 years old...and they did a pitiful job of implementing it. Is that kind of like what you meant?

Appreciate that. Good to know about the camera. ?

But OnePlus is slowly making their cameras better over the years. They really sucked back in the day, then get to be ok, but still not great, now they are pretty good, just barely in the top 5 or close. And the 9 Pro is suppsoed to have a big camera upgrade as OnePlus knows that's a point of criticism

That would be cool. My Razer had a very mediocre camera so I have been using my iPhone for most shots. I like what I am reading on the 9.

Wasn’t the 1+ 8 supposed to be THAT device where 1+ turned it around on camera performance?

Every year, it is the same old promise...and every year the promise goes down the drain.

It’s not a monologue. It is actual understanding of what has been written about the phones you mentioned. But hey, if you want to make the same mistake you did with your Razer, then go for it. But, you will regret it (again).

The same can be said about Google’s late to the party end-to-end encryption or privacy granular settings or AirDrop...or wait, has AirDrop for Android been rolled out to everyone yet?! LOL

Hey you guys have any decent backup like iCloud? Nah, i will answer that for you.

also trade ins are so good with samsung I don't think resale value is important in people's case who upgrade their phones regularly.

I sold my S7 Edge only a year ago for £70 - and the thing was absolutely bricked, totally unresponsive. I'd say that's a pretty decent return for a completely broken phone.

I aready own an iPhone. I’ve owned most of them.
The Razer was bought for a specific reason and it worked well. Far from a mistake.
I am looking at a couple of possibles to replace the Razer and appreciate any constructive feedback.

I'm more than happy with every android device I've owned, and I'm more than happy storing the stuff that won't fit on my phone on SD cards thanks. I have zero interest in cloud storage.

This is so true. I'll be able to upgrade to the S22 next year for privacy around $400, be able to own my phone outright, and have that $400 deducted upon point of sale. Doesn't get much better than that.

What about a new Razer phone? Don't they have a Razer 3 or something out or coming out soon?

Sure, you can store stuff on SD (which no longer exist on Samsung flagships)...but that is about all you can do...store photos and maybe files (cannot store apps). But since not many major OEM used Adoptive Storage, SD cards became obsolete and irrelevant as internal storage prices come down.

Cloud storage is where it is at. Easy to transfer from device to device...and especially iCloud Backup is just brilliant when it comes to switching devices. And with everyone having 4G/5G and/or fast Wifi, cloud storage is the current mainstay and future.
