From left to right:

Generic Tempered glass screen protectors with install tool $1.60 shipped.

Generic case from Ebay $5 shipped

Silk Grip case from Amazon $5 shipped

I like and use the Silk Grip case on my 8+ and 7+ though the one I just got for the X seems to feel a little cheaper when holding it in my hand. The ones for the 7 & 8 feel better made.

I'm planning to get this device as a gift for a relative of mine who loves iPhones and will be thrilled to get this device. I want to get him also a great case that can provide solid protection but not be too bulky.

I see some really nice looking cases that are already available on . I especially love some of the Spigen cases. What cases are you going to get?

Currently these are my favorite cases

1. Amazon.com: Spigen Thin Fit iPhone X Case with SF Coated Non Slip Matte Surface for Excellent Grip

2. Amazon.com: OtterBox DEFENDER SERIES Case for iPhone X

www.aswanu.com they have the same case but cheaper.JUST personal opinion.

Has anyone heard of Mous cases? I stumbled upon them while perusing one of the numerous iPhone X case lists and it looks pretty interesting.

https://www.mous.co/cases/iphone/x/aramid-carbon-fibre

I don't see anything that warrants that price. My experience with the carbon fiber cases is that they r more slippery than the phone and give off a rough feeling. Might look nice but definitely doesn't fee as good in hand as a silicon case.

Thanks.

How would you say you treat your phone? On the rougher end of the scale?

I ask because I take decent care of my phone & cases have lasted me years because of that.

On some reviews, it's been stated the newer Silicon cases are of better quality. If someone can confirm this it'd be good.
If they have made improvements it might be worth it. I’m not super rough on my phone and it was a matter of a couple months and it had gone to ****. It really was terrible.

Tell you what I don't like; cases with tiny grooves/indentations. You just know dead skin, dirt, dust, food ect. will find their way into those areas.

Specifically, are you referring to colour degradation &/or scratches, cuts, breaks etc? Since it's Silicon we're discussing, I'm thinking the latter as colours should remain intact I'd think.

Unlike leather....In a YT vid I saw yesterday a Product Red leather case turned pretty putrid in colour after 2 years, but it didn't seem to have much physical damage.

My one concern is this...I obviously want better protection (in a minimum profile) so I’d prefer for the case to cover the bottom of the phone (and all the ports).

With Apple’s case it does NOT cover the phone the way I want it to BUT it will be easier to swipe to unlock.

With the case I highlighted above (and most cases everyone else is getting) we have bottom coverage but I’m afraid the lip could make it difficult (less friendly) to swipe up an unlock.

Anyone else have these thoughts?

Yeah mate I've been thinking this for a while myself.

Ergonomically, no bottom lip is a positive for the X imo.

Same here. You are spot on!

That being said, I’m definitely getting an Apple silicone case. I also preordered the ThanoTech K11 bumper. I considered the RhinoShield Mod bumper. The Mod bumper is slimmer than the CrashGuard, but I’d still like an even slimmer bumper, which the ThanoTech K11 offers.

Ha. Good call out on not having a bottom lip but if you drop your phone and the bottom part hits the floor first, the screen will go.
Not necessarily, the bottom isn’t fully exposed. The case covers the corners. I unfortunately dropped my 6Plus and 7Plus and it hit the bottom on cement and no damage.

I'm going to order these right after I bagged one on pre-order day and not before. I prefer slim over bulky cases which are grippy/soft touch. Not worried about drop protection, just scratch protection...will try them all out one by one before settling on a favourite...

Also I've been looking for a glass screen protector that is simply a rectangular slab of glass, without any weird cut outs or surrounds for the notch area that I think ruins the look, and I've found the one...this..you can thank me later :)

Where did you see that info about the CrashGuard vs. Mod? I preordered the Mod as well. Considered the K11 but I’m wondering about protection.

I recall seeing general size spec differences on YouTube videos, but nothing specific though. The Mod is slimmer than the CrashGuard and the K11 is slimmer than the Mod.

Can you show the stats of the K11 vs the Mod in size for the X.

Anyone ever get stung at customs for cases? I just got a letter through my door for a £12 charge to pay on a parcel. The only thing I’m expecting international is my Caudabe case for Iphone X. Considering the case was only about $25, a £12 customs charge seems excessive

I had the exact same thing with a Caudabe case. I emailed them and said I was sorry but would not be accepting the case due to import tax. They were fine about it. You just don’t go and pick it up. After 30 days or so it is returned to Caudabe and you’ll get a refund. I then ordered another and got it straight away with no import tax! I think it’s just pot luck. They must grab a few and slap a tax on them.

Too late - oh well good to know for next time. Barely over the £15 limit (about £17) and get slapped with a £12 charge seems excessive.

Interesting to see the size of it. Although perhaps only a few mm different, it feels much larger in the hand. I can’t easily wrap my fingers around it like I can the 6s.

Here is a photo of it (caudabe clear case) with a 6s inside AD130B56-0D32-4E3A-9A4E-02360B561F37.jpeg

I got the same card a few days ago. I've not gone to pick up the item but it most likely is a Caudabe case as that's the only international order I have right now. It's the same amount too.

That's good to know. I think I will email them too and tell them the same thing. I'm not paying £12 for a case that cost just double that and probably cost a fraction of the price to actually make. If they accept it back and give me a refund I might re-order it again and see if it goes through without the customs duty.

Sure. ThanoTech posted the measurements on their website. RhinoShield did not, so I emailed them, but they forget to include the height measurement. I will update the thread as soon as they get back to me.

K11: height 146mm / width 74mm / depth 9.66mm

Mod: height ? / width 76mm / depth 10.15mm

The K11 is incrementally smaller, but enough where it should make a difference all around.
