Ah gotcha. And you said the grip is good on it, right? I’m very particular about my cases being grippy, otherwise if it’s a bar of soap, it ends up being a waste to me.

Same with me, and I don't know how they did it, but the plastic has a great grip to it, it's staying on my phone for that reason alone.

So, yeah... this escalated out of control. Wife stumbled down hall upon “the gathering” and she’s a little... mad says I have “problems”. She was supposed to be in bathtub and next thing I know she’s traipsing down hallway. ‍♂️ I usually keep some in work car, on night stand, unused dresser drawer, computer bag, computer desk and in kitchen by coffee so she doesn’t typically think much of it... and yeah I’m pretty sure I’m grounded now ‍♂️

Ditto; while the look is awesome, it's the feel that keeps it on my phone. It's one of the only cases that doesn't feel like a wet bar of soap. Feels great in the hand and very grippy, a must buy in my opinion.

I wanted to like this case, but it just felt too slippery to me.

It’s not slippery to me but does attract finger prints like crazy. Also the Apple logo cut out kinda bothers me. I’m already back to the speck Presidio which is definitely slippery but I’m liking it.

And if you had to choose only one, which one would it be?

The Presidio Grip is on sale for $19.99 at Best Buy right now.

Yep all speck cases are half off. I debate between the grip and the non grip. Most obviously statement ever...the grip is easier to hold but I find the non grip more comfortable and it doesn’t stick to my pockets. Hmm

Would you mind giving your “long term” thoughts on the catalyst impact? I’m considering picking one up today. Does anyone else have one that can chime in as well? How’s the grip? Feel in hand? Buttons? Using the home indicator? Thanks!

Aron the Ho says it’s the best case he’s used in 5 years. No review yet though.

I had the Catalyst Impact case, but ended up selling it after using it for a couple of weeks. Here's the good: the case is perfectly designed, the buttons are probably the most tactile out of all the cases I've ever used, the mute toggle works great and the form factor makes the case a pleasure to hold.

Why would I get rid of a case that seems to tick all marks? Well, the case has one gaping flaw (this is strictly my opinion, of course): the clear, fingerprint magnet back. If only Catalyst made a variant with a matte back, or one that matches the frame, it would have been the case that checks all boxes. Unfortunately, the back was a deal breaker for me.

Thanks for the quick response! I do hate fingerprints but the positive trade off is that clear backs are grippy for my hands. What bulk level are we talking about here? Otterbox symmetry? Speck Presidio? UAG?

I'm currently using the Otterbox Symmetry and the Catalyst Impact is a fraction of its bulk, particularly the back. One of the things that I actually prefer about the Symmetry is that the raised back provides more protection to the camera lens. The Catalyst's back is flush with the camera.

I bought it and returned it to Amazon last week; I like the mute/knob concept but like so many other cases I found it just a bit slippery. For $40, it should have a solid grip and it didn't so back it went. The back did fingerprint, but that didn't bother me as much as the non-grip. Case seemed like it'd have provided great protection though; I didn't hate it, but just didn't love it for $40.

I forgot how nice the buttons were, they nailed it with those. For me the case didn't provide as much grip as I'd have liked.
