I researched and shopped for a long time. I had settled on the LN52A650 and dummy me purchased the LN52A550 by accident.:confused:I shuffled some paperwork and blah blah blah, I almost exchanged it but decided that the 550 is fine for me. Had no real interest in the 120Hz and it has excellent response time and a very respectable aspect ratio. I love this tv. I have my PS3 and my Mini hooked up to it and everything looks so good. The black levels are fantastic and the price on them are reasonable. What it comes down to is buy what will serve your purpose best and what you can afford. A piece of advice is buy the biggest you can, nobody ever regrets buying too big a tv. I have mine in my room and I think I want to go bigger now.

I have a s Sony Bravia X 40", such a beautiful design with the floating glass around the edge of the whole tv. Picture is fantastic, but thats expected lol...

I was originally going to get a Samsung LCD, the reason I went against it though was Sony had a promotion of a free PS3 with every Bravia (>40") TV. There was about $250 difference between the two TV's which seemed exactly the same, but the PS3's where going for $700.

The reasons I didn't get a Plasma is due to a few varying accounts, firstly is that I am a gamer, I spend way to many hours a week playing games, and even though a lot of people and companies are saying that ghosting is now non existent, I don't want to risk having a crosshair pernimately embedded into my tv. The response time I've heard is better on a LCD aswell, viewing angle is perfect on this thing but also power consumption is handy, and screen life.

I have the Samsung LN32A450. That's the 32 inch 720p HD model if you would like the model number deciphered. I've been very pleased with it. At some point, I'd actually like to spend some money an build an "inexpensive" home theater with either a super large screen or projection system. It's more novelty value than anything though...

actually, plasmas have a longer screen life. but lcds are nothing to sneeze at either.

I want a Sony BRAVIA panel, especially the XBR-series. However, I wish there is a chart to make it clear what's the major differences between the L, M, S, W, Z.

As an PS3 owner, having the XrossMediaBar UI on the TV would be nice.

I finally ordered the KDL-40XBR7 from Sony last Friday. You know the trill, keep checking the status. :p

I actually went to the SonyStyle retail store and had a look between 40XBR6 and 40XBR7. The Sony salesman even dissed the Apple TV and VUDU until I told him I have an Apple TV and PS3. It's fun listening to the salesman IMHO.

I've had an excellent experiences with Samsung panels. I've never had a problem with them and they're excellent TV sets. There absolute quality, and they don't burn a whole in the wallet either.

If money is no problem, then I'd look at nothing other than the XBR line from Sony. :)

I just picked up a Samsung 46 inch 850 series and I find the picture quality to be fantastic. The ability to play music/video off usb attached storage is a nice feature as well. It works well for wall mounting, only 1.9 inches thick.

I have the LN52A850 and completely agree with you the picture is amazing. I plan on purchasing a Bluray player shortly so I can really see what this TV has to offer.

I live by Sony...

Other TVs are nice, but I always have been fond of the quality and durability in all the Sony products we have. I believe my Dad still has a 56" Projection TV from back in the early 90s in his entertainment room.

I have a 40" Bravia XBR (KDL-40XBR7) and I couldn't love it more. I picked it up as a refurbished model at a Sony Style store in one of the outlet centers, and I just couldn't refuse the price they were selling them at. If only I could get approved for their credit card, I would've went crazy with the deals. But anyway, XBR is the top of the line and its clarity is beyond compare. A little on the pricey side, but its worth every penny.

But all Sony's are worth it, whether it be XBR, Z, W, etc. They all will look great watching television, playing video games, or whatever else you hook your HDTV up to.

And by the looks of it, many people in this forum thread agree! :D

I saw that set in BestBuy a week ago. It is very slim and able to stream video via the DLNA thing, however the reddish bezel can turn to be a novelty for me. Some Apple TV owners here reported 'HDMI handshake' issue with their Samsung sets.

I cannot wait to unbox my Sony KDL-40XBR7 telly.

I personally like vizio the best, but samsung and sony all have great flat screens. Vizio is more expensive though.

Vizio...I never encounter Vizio LCDs, so i really don't know if it is good one. But i will personally recommend Samsung LCD TV, they have great resolution.

LCDs: Korean and Japanese ones are great.
Top Ones (in order)
1. Samsung
2. Sony
3. LG
4. Toshiba

Plasmas: Japanese
1. Pioneer
2. Panasonic

hmmm, i think you might have that sentence backwards. It should read:
