Thanks to all for the help on this thread. I have MBP with 3 external hard drives, 1 for Time Machine, 2 for data storage and backup. Chronosync is the winner, reasonably priced, no subscription, syncs on file change. My only suggestion which I will submit to them is for desktop notifications. There is an activity window associated with the program, but it only appears when the program is actively selected.
