Honestly, I'd have to go with the original Castle Wolfenstein on the Apple ][ Played the heck out of that game.

I also loved this text-based Adventure game on the ][. There was this line, "You are on death's door and knocking loudly" everytime you were about to die.

Marathon. Downloading Marathon/2/Infinity demos over dial-up were the reasons why I paid AOL an extra $50 a month for going over my FREE hours per month.

There were other really good games like Star Wars: Dark Forces, Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Phantasmagoria and Dirt Bike.

Anyone remember Underwear Girl? LOL!

Any of the old MECC games (Oregon Trail, Pizza to Go, etc).

If anyone finds the Pizza to Go ROM let me know!

Ghost Recon Desert Siege, then Call of Duty, any of them.

Whatever was hot at the time. Pick any one of:
  • Scarab of Ra
  • Strategic Conquest
  • Original Sim City
  • Original Civilization
  • Myth II
  • Diablo II
  • Ghost Recon: DS and IT
  • CoD, CoD2, CoD4
  • Battlefield 2142 (when it wasn't crashing or painfully slow).

I haven't played a whole lot of games on my mac but from those I have I absolutely enjoyed The Stroke of Midnight, Monkey Island and Puzzle Agent.

Myth 2 - Online ladder system was the bomb. I was an Emp also! I just remember that one map with all the Heroic Dwarves or whatever when you could super launch molotov cocktails to the center of an island for KoTH was epic.

Warcraft 2 - I remember some website that you could post your host game IP's and you would just cross your fingers and hope that someone joined your game so you could play online. If anyone remembers the name of that WC2 online game post site, please tell me. It had a ladder ranking too I believe.

Deus Ex - One of the best storyline's ever when I was younger. I remember playing the crap out of that game. I would save a game before I used a lockpick and then open some lockbox and see if it was worth it, if it wasn't, I would reload my previous saved game, lol, so time consuming.

Heroes of Might & Magic 2 - Just remember it being awesome.

SimAnt - This was a PC game pretty sure but it was the bomb! Nothing like killing ants and building tunnels.

So so many.

I probably logged the most hours on the Escape Velocity series. I still play that now some times.

One of the first games I ever played was an old hypercard based game from 1988 called "The Manhole", which I played when I was little on a macintosh plus, black and white. It was a really cool exploration game, not unlike Myst. Before we got our external 20 mb hard drive, I remember from time to time it would prompt me to change the floppy disk, cuz I didn't have space to install it.

Cosmic Osmo was better and Spelunx :D

This is a Mac forum, people are discussing the best game they played on their Macs presumably while running the MacOS. The only limit that makes sense to me is excluding those PC games played in Windows on your Mac. Everything else should be fair game even if you think they play better on a PC, it's irrelevant to a best 'Mac' game discussion.
You can include non-Mac exclusive games if you like, but what you would be saying is this: "This is the best game ever made for Mac, but there's absolutely no point playing it because the PC/Amiga/etc version is WAY BETTER"
