Very strange... I've been using the 34WK95U with my new MBP for the last while and its great - have found a nice scaled resolution - but have connected it up to my M1 Mac mini and can't seem to find anything between the native 5120 x 2160 where the text is tiny and the "looks like" 3008x1269. Using Switchresx I just end up with a load of blurry text regardless of resolution.

On the M1 Pro, the resolution is 3840x1620 and looks great.

3840x1620 with Switchresx on the M1 Mini is blurry.

Is this the "issue" with the M1 Mini and monitors I keep reading about?

I have two ultrafine 5k

they both have these issues with mbp 14 base

- brighntess after sleep often is dim, returns to correct brightness after adjusting brightness
- volume of speakers is very loud even at low setting (cant be fixed)
- colors are washed out if you watch slightly off angle (imac 5k doesnt have this issue, and presumably studio monitor doesnt)
- rare single time flickers (every other day)

general issues:

- **** design, **** stand, poor material (one franme is cracked after having it on vesa mount, inly due to adjusting position by grabbing body

I agree, dont buy ultrafine, unless very good deal

I'm running 4 x LG Ultrawide 49" monitors on my 16" M1 Max. Not as good as the new Apple monitors but once you go widescreen it's hard to go back. If I was doing anything graphics related I would most definitely be using a Pro Display XDR, but the LG monitors are pretty good for the price

How many feeds of Bookmap can you run on this setup?

At the moment I’m only running 3 bookmap feeds as I only monitor the Bitcoin price on 3 exchanges, but I have around 100 TradingView charts open on various tabs, as well as a few other web based order flow applications. Everything is running smooth and fast with zero lag. The 16” M1 Max is fully spec’d (10 core cpu, 32 core touch, 64gb ram). Will post some performance data screenshots below.

Oh, and the trick with Bookmap was to reduce the memory allocation to 50% or less. When I had it higher than that my system was slowly sucking up all of my available ram. Everything runs fine now and performance doesn’t seem reduced. I think I could run many more feeds with no issue.

I think I am the only one who is positive about the LG UltraFine 5K.

I've bought one two weeks ago to go with my 14" MacBook Pro and I am very content with it. I was a bit scared about the overall quality of the screen due to all the negative writings on the web but sheez, it is a very good monitor!
I did want to buy an Apple Studio Monitor but the delivery times were crazy.

The monitor is built very well, I really like the matte finish of the black plastics (it is of great quality) and of course, the 5K screen is beautiful. The backlight uniformity is great and the image of the monitor matches the image of my MacBook and 500 nits of brightness is more than sufficient for my working space.

I must say I have a very recent model that is built in november 2021 so maybe LG upped their QC game? The only thing I can say that it is a great monitor, a great match with a recent MacBook and I saved (€1779,- - €1199,- =) €580,- with it.

My comparisons are different 4K LG UL and 4K Dell UltraSharp monitors which are also great for the money.
