If they take the panel rumored for the next iMac (27" mini-LED w/ ProMotion) and create a well-designed Thunderbolt Display out of it... They will sell A LOT. As long as it's at or under $3k they would have a sale from me for sure.
Since the new iMac is said to start at 2k/2.5k ,I wonder how they will price the display only
And also what will happen to the pro display xdr

It is not new - I am running with EX3501R, macOS has the built-in colour profile for it. The colour looks identical to my MacBook screen except for the contrast. It's a VA panel so the black is blacker than the typical IPS panel to almost no glow. 3440x1440p 100Hz with FreeSync, macOS support adaptive sync 48-100hz mode, USB-C connection for Display, Audio and two USB ports. It does not have enough power to charge since it is only 10w via the USB-C but it managed to charge my MBP13 overnight at idle mode.

HDR mode - not great and do not bother with it.

I'm going for Lenovo p40w
will run it in retina mode.
Hopefully avail in January. HP and Dell have the same size / Rez models.
Dell is only 60hz, HP is nano IPS but delayed forever

Models
Dell U4021QW
LG 40WP95C
Lenovo P40W

Both Lenovo and HP advertise a 75hz refresh, Lenovo is TB4 (don't remember the other 2)

Not sure this is the right thread to ask, but I'm considering getting the LG 4K Ultrafine to pair with my 16" M1 Max. Does anyone know if I go Thunderbolt from the laptop to the LG, can I then go out of the other Thunderbolt port on the LG using a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter/cable to a second monitor? Or would that not work because Mac doesn't support MST and that second monitor also needs to be a Thunderbolt display connected with a Thunderbolt cable?

Is this company reputable at all or brand new? Looks like a nice monitor.

Just read this review (there are plenty of positives, too, but this part turned me off):

One thing the panel is absolutely not good for is HDR. Although the Eve Spectrum has been given a DisplayHDR 600 rating, and can hit a peak luminance level of 750cd/m2, this is not a monitor you want to use for HDR gaming. In SDR mode the panel uses a standard global backlighting system which is lit from the bottom of the screen. That's grand and results in an excellent image.

With the monitor in HDR mode, however, it switches to a local dimming backlight with 16 zones. Unfortunately that is still powered by the bottom edge-lit backlight and results in a strange rising column bleed effect in high contrast images. It's ugly, and can really mask the detail of a dark scene, which is precisely where you want HDR content to sparkle.

The best monitor for this macbook is the AW3821DW. Fastest response times, 144 hz, very fluid work flow, good build, all ergonomic adjustments, 1600 pixels height, 3 year warranty with swap (in case of defect, you get delivered an exchange monitor, afterwards you have to send yours back). But you have to do some panel lottery, for pixel failures and homogenity (if you have some extra requirements there). This is common for all monitors ;).

Is there a reason you went for the 95U ultrawide rather than say the LG 5k Ultrafine? At a similar price point it seems like the ultrafine offers higher PPI, but not sure how to best decide.
Mostly because of availability, can't find 5k Ultrafine anywhere but refurb from eBay US... and I'm making a company purchase so that also limits the options if I want to get the VAT back.

Also I think the wider format will suit my workflow better, I'll have another display (the trusty U2415) on the left-hand side as a tertiary display, and the 14" M1 Max display just below the main display.

This monitor is only a little over 100ppi though. Nowhere close to retina on MBPs

It has been up and down, they broke some promises back in the days (years ago). They are shipping but extremely slow.

They’re basically a kickstarter.

At a reasonable distance of ~70 cm 109 ppi is enough. You will not see any single pixels and the image is very sharp.

Your slow displays of mbp or ultra fine displays have very bad response times and no high refreshrate. Mbp has up to 60 ms which is suitable for 20 refreshes per second (20 hz). Place this slow, low refresh rate panels beside a AW3821DW and you will never go back to your stone age tech lcds.

If you want hdr 1000 with mini led fald in addition, buy this:

Define good? If 60 hz, no hdr, glossy display (mirror effect), no adaptive sync and slow response times are good for you then buy it.

And it has of course the for Apple products known pwm flickering:

I will burn your eyes and causing headache. A trillion dollar company who is not able to buy displays with dc dimming.

This awful reflections, even in a dimmed room:

Who the hell would prefer it?

They make both mistakes for years. Complete incompetent.

I got a 32" LG 4K display for $450 at MicroCenter. I use it with a co-located PC as well. It is a little dim (I have to turn it to 90%) max around 350-400 nits and no HDR, but otherwise is a very good match to the MacBook. DPI is retina enough at 3+ feet

Are there any 5k curved monitors around 32"? I have 2x 27" 4k monitors but I think a 5k curved would be a better choice.

Happy to report that I was able to get LG-34WK95U-W + Dell U2415 work on a single cable from the M1Max, using a Caldigit TS3+ dock...

It doesn't work with LG's supplied TB3 cable and you end up having to plug in TWO (oh my) cables instead of just one to the MBP. I had a 8K DP1.4 cable laying around I was going to return. So I opened the packaging and gave it a try, and it worked! It's a Maxonar 8K DP1.4 USB-C to DP cable, connected to the Caldigit's TB downstream port. Sound works too, but to use the USB ports at the back you'd need to use the USB-B cable supplied with the display, and set it so from the OSD, as DP doesn't carry USB data. The connection to U2415 remains the same (using a DisplayPort Male-to-Male cable)

I also tried the DP downstream port from the U2415 but that ended up just mirroring the display at 1920x1200, which was pointless.

Thoughts on best 38" Ultrawide (Not For Gaming) with budget upto £1500ish?
All the decent ones I see, everyone in the reviews mentions gaming.
I just need it for video editing, Photo stuff and having loads of document windows open at once so needs to be good for text too.

Well I ended up going with the LG Ultrafine 5K display, and so far no regrets. The monitor may be old, but its a huge upgrade for me and the 5K display truly is amazing.
Even though I would have preferred a matte coating it’s still the best option in my opinion with true retina and 500 nits brightness (and the bonus that the brightness keys on your keyboard just works). I also have a 32” BenQ PD3220U 4K display (also not cheap) but I prefer how everything looks on the 5K. On the 4K BenQ I have to use scaling and it’s less crisp and less bright. It’s a pity no other company makes 5K and 6K displays, or that Apple doesn’t make an iMac quality stand alone displa.

Cheers, I have a list of 5 or 6 and that one keeps cropping up on the reviews.
Personally the resolution would be too low for me on that one. I tried a 34" LG @ 3440x1440 and while it was a very nice monitor, after working with retina-level screens for years, the resolution was just too low. It was difficult to discern in my work whether what I was seeing was the low resolution of the screen or a flaw in the image/asset.

I switched to the LG-34WK95U-W and it is much better. I love the widescreen format, and this is afaik, the only wide-screen display in this price range with 5k-ish resolution.
