Anyone tried the latest Macbook with the 38" LG Ultra-Wide 38WN95C-W ?
Ive read that it can have issues waking up when turning on the macbook?

Is this true?
Im not keen on unplugging and replugging to wake it up..

In case anyone is interested in the Dell U3818DW, it has a couple known issues: 1) the power chime issue from MacBook when connected with USB-C and going into sleep mode (https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/...monitors-while-the-macbook-is-in-sleep-mode); 2) usb keyboard/mouse connected to the monitor not recognized after reboot when connected with USB-C.

This is fairly annoying, but otherwise the monitor works well and charging works too at 100W.

Are there any good aluminum displays that are 4K, don't want a plastic one.

I wish I could get the Huawei MateView, however as it were Huawei products are not sold in the USA because of their affiliation with the Chinese government

Looking at Philips 279M1RV - 4K UHD 27" at 144hz, Nano IPS with DTS sound. Doesn't seem to be in stock though, not yet (UK)

I bought an LG 34WK95U this week for my 16" M1 Pro and its brilliant. It was between this or adding a second 4K 27" screen but I prefer the Ultrawide format. I'd used Ultrawide screens in the past, but the lower resolution is a real issue for me. I couldn't justify a Pro XDR so went for this screen instead as its 5K so is "retina-like" and fits my desk well - its just about the right size for me without being totally overwhelming size-wise. Love it.

How does text look on it. Is is up to retina standards? MacOS is tough on anything less than very high ppi monitors…

It looks really good - that's why I went for the 5K screen at 34" instead of a larger screen with lower res/ppi.

I have the same monitor paired with my m1 max and it’s brilliant. The wide format is great and the resolution is absolutely fantastic. Overall it’s a very solid pick and still remains one of the only ultra wide screens with ‘retina like’ dpi.

I ended up getting mine from adorama used for 900. I’ve seen great deals on eBay in the past too, but brand new gets you a warranty, which is nice.

Is there a sub $800 ultrawide model that would be good for pairing with a 14" macbook?
I don't need a monster 38-40" wide monitor - something like 30-32" would prob be more than enough for me.
check out gigabyte m32q

Gave up waiting and went for 34WK95U instead, will be here next week hopefully.
Is there a reason you went for the 95U ultrawide rather than say the LG 5k Ultrafine? At a similar price point it seems like the ultrafine offers higher PPI, but not sure how to best decide.

At a similar price point, the LG Ultrafine has the same horizontal resolution and taller vertical resolution, just less actual physical screen space (27" vs 34"), but I would think 27" would be plenty sufficient for viewing 2 side-by-side windows

27" also offers higher PPI at 218 vs. 95U's 164ppi

I regret getting the 38" Ultragear over this. iirc thunderbolt 3 was limited to 75hz?
I am running native at 144hz on my M1 air. Occasionally when I plug it in it it freaks out and shows a mirror display with poor resolution scaling, but replacing always fixes it.

I have bought Dell U2720Q for MBP 16”, currently waiting for MBP 16 Max, but the display has been great for development and occasional photo editing, considering to get another one. Not sure the PD will be enough though as the new MBP can use up to 140W.
