You should take the most you think you're going to get. The value isn't going to go up, and may well go down very quickly once a media event is scheduled if the major media outlets pick up on it and the general public gains more knowledge of an impending new model. i.e. try to sell it soon rather than holding out for an extra $50.

Search ebay for completed sales as a pricing guide. Remember also that you don't pay ~12% in ebay fees, so you can afford to underprice on CL for a quick sale to get it done with.

Thanks a lot! That is very helpful!

Craigslist should be the best way to sell.

i just sold my iPad 2 32GB WiFi

no service charge, no shipping cost, face to face, cash :D

Craigslist is the best if you have the time. No PP or eBay fees or BS. Make sure you get cash and make sure it's not counterfeit. (seriously). Also take a friend and meet in a public place.

I sold mine on eBay b/c it's easy, but it's not without its own risks. Make sure you sell to a buyer w/ solid history. I dump any buyers that are not on the top side of 50. And do not sell to anyone outside the U.S. even if they offer you a premium on your price. It's a scam.

If you are too busy and risk averse for either of those options then sell it on Gazelle.com. You won't get the best price, but you will get your money and no hassle.

Any advice on much I should sell my iPad 2 32gb 3G version for. I still have the box and I have a incase book case for it. I listed it for $550 but no fish are biting.

I sold my iPad 2 64 WIFI only for $550 with leather smart cover. Had some really idiot low ball offers.

How difficult is it to sell something via craigslist?
I'm trying to convince my family to sell our "family" iPad, so we can get an iPad 3 when it comes out, but they aren't very keen to craigslists. (bad reputation I guess).

We have the 64GB Wifi Only iPad 2.

well its not that difficult to post an ad on there, the thing is though u will get mixed results. Sometimes u will get a low balling offers, others times u won't get any bites at all.

you also gotta weed out all those offers that are scams, like sending it abroad or so..

Overall, selling over craigslist is in my opinion best option as you have no more further responsibility and are charged no fees (shipping, tax etc.) . Just make sure you meet somewhere with a lot of people, i.e. coffee shops and go with a friend.

I just put my white 32gb wifi only on Craigslist tonight.

It has no scratches on the screen or back, but does have dings on two of the corners. I listed it at 400 and hoping for some responses soon, although I do live in a small town. I thought 400 seemed fair for a device that cost over 600 new and has only some cosmetic damage on two corners.

There is no 100% Risk free sale.

Safest is sell to someone you know or use a Trade In Service like Amazon or Gazelle.

Ebay is risky because they protect the buyer more than the seller. Scammers know this and use the system to they're advantage.

Amazon gives sellers better protection than eBay but you are required to do returns.

Craigslist is the riskiest for your personal safety. People get robbed, and tossed fake money all the time. One tip meet in public place and check the money for holograms and security strips.

you're charging too much...

When I post any apple product on CL, 50 calls in the first hour.

How much do you think I should post for an ipad 2, wifi, 64gb, great condition with a leather case and SP?

Thanks

If you're selling on CL in NYC and not getting any bites, you're priced too high. It's not like you're in East Podunk, population 20, where there's nobody looking to buy.

When looking at the other CL advertisements and comparing your price to theirs remember something: if the ad is still up, it's probably NOT sold. i.e. list yours at a price lower than the price ceiling of unsold ipads.

Also remember that many (most?) buyers really don't give a cr@p about accessories unless you luck onto the person who was going to buy the exact same case or whatnot. Screen protector? Okay, saves me some effort, may be scratched up, $5 or so value. Leather case? Worthless (to me), haven't yet seen one I liked. It could be the Finest Corinthian Leather but I wouldn't use it for any longer than it took me to put a skin on the back case and slap a smartcover on the front. Not everyone is like me of course, but the point being to step out of your perception of value of the accessories and look at it as if you were a buyer.

If you want the most you can get for your Ipad sell it on CL plain and simple.
Everyone else will fee you to death. I buy and sell tons on CL, don't be a scary wuss just use common sense. Meet at starbucks its best for apple goods, free wifi, outlets etc. If you're not sure of how to check bills ask the clerk.

Use good reasonable solid round figures, don't encourage people to haggle with you. The atm don't spit out 5's and 10's so chance are they wont have these in their pocket.

in my experience, cases don't really add to the value of products, but they are nice incentive when people are trying to bargain with you.

I would expect maybe around $550-$600.

Obviously now that apple has announced the March 7 date, a lot more people know about the iPad 3, so value probably dropped $25-$50 yesterday.

I would start it closer to the $600 side, if you aren't getting calls after an hour or two, start lowering the price. You will know when you get into the price territory people are willing to pay in your area because your phone will probably ring every two minutes!

This...

$500 and be done with it. You better hurry since CNN posted the event to the masses.

Any idea what an 32 GB wifi iPad 1 would sell for? I didn't jump on the iPad 2 bandwagon, but this is definitely the time to upgrade.

I sold my ipad 2, 64 gb, wifi, near perfect condition, with box and charger (no case), in about 5 days on CL. I started at $600, two days later dropped to $575, then negotiated down to $550.

Trick with CL is to put in the listing that you do not want trades, and also to renew the listing every two days with a slightly lower price if you aren't getting genuine buyers interested.

Best thing of all, as already stated, no fees.
