I thought my battery was decent on iOS 14 (before beta 4) but since I downgrade back to 13,6 my battery is miles better and my phone perform like a champ. I think there's still many tweaks to do in iOS 14 to bring back this performance peak, especially for battery life.

The only problems I've had were my wallpaper "jiggling" when I scrolled through screens (I fixed this by just re-selecting the image as my wallpaper) and the camera constantly trying to re-focus, which I fixed with a reboot. Other than that I'd say it's been pretty stable, no app crashes or anything.

(highlight mine)

That's a surprising conclusion. We know iOS 14 can perform exceptionally well; we all saw it in the first couple of betas. This bouncing back and forth of performance is common in early betas; iOS 14 is no different. Whatever's causing the leak/lag/stutters will be fixed up in short order (next beta or two) and we'll back to the performance of the first couple of betas.

Well it's mostly based on prior history through my use case scenario (and some posts/videos on the web)

iOS9 was supposedly the performance refinement to ios8 but in my use case, it actually ran slower than 8.4.1 on my iPad 2 and even my 5S at the time.

iOS12 was similar in that it was a refinement over ios11 but on the ipad Air 1, i remember it being marginally better. On Air 2, it did perform better though

For ios14, the first few betas was essentially were 13 since it didnt have much of the feature set so maybe that's why it ran OK. I guess we'll find out if history repeats itself

The most aggravating bug I have found so far is the iMessage app opening to a blank, black screen. It usually takes a few attempts to open it for it to display when it happens.

My iPad Pro (11”, 2020) had a respring when I tried to Haptic Touch (Not-so-haptic touch? I don’t think Haptic Touch is the official name on iPad.) an image in safari.

It’s interesting that everyone seems to have different experiences with each Beta. For me, Beta 1 was great, super stable, no hassles. Beta 2-3 were brutal to the point of me wanting to skip them, and then finally Beta 4 has been nice and stable again.
Well, I guess it’s mostly because different people use their devices in different ways.
For example, the biggest issue I have with beta 4 is the camera focus bug that occurs when you have AirPods connected. As I’m using AirPods all of the time, and also use the camera quite often, it is a major inconvenience for me. For someone who hasn’t got AirPods might never found out about this bug.
Also can be bugs with different apps - let’s say the banking apps not working with beta 1-2. I don’t use more than 10 apps so the chance of experiencing bug with some of them is lower. And etc. :)

Seeing many banking apps and Wallgreens not working with this latest beta

it IS interesting, how different we're experiencing the current beta. i have yet to find anything acting buggy on my XS, and my bank app (& cvs app) both work as usual.

hopefully, apple sorts this all out with the next revision, and we're all (mostly) ok.

My biggest issue on B4 is with Siri. She can’t seem to find my news apps. I have several and like to listen as I’m waking up. Always says I need to download the app first. Not a problem till B4.
Also says I need to unlock the phone first (never needed this before)which I can’t do without getting out of bed first. Then once unlocked she cant find the app even tho it’s staring her right in the face. Hoping for a fix in next beta

DB4 has been so much better than B1-3 for me, no resprings, all my apps working fine, even all the banking ones. Only 2 issues I have is occasionally when answering or making calls via Msft Teams, it'll ring in my AirPod Pros but then when it connects it kicks the audio out the speaker. The other issue, and it's only happened twice in the last week, is the vanishing keyboard.

Definitely the buggiest so far. Phone randomly reboots every night while I'm asleep. Sudden lags. Keyboard vanishing. Etc.

No cause for concern - this happens during most beta cycles. They fix some things and other things are in incomplete states.

Yes Reboot every night in the early hours

This has been the biggest pain. I have to start a phone call, then put in my airpods if i need to talk hands free. I had this happen occasionally on b3. But on 4, it's been just about every phone call i try to make.

Otherwise, I'm enjoying 14 so far.
I have this too, and have to hung up the phone call, disconnect AirPods Pro before trying to call back again. Never encountered this on beta 3 and it just appears on beta 4.

Also.....
Why tf Apple deletes my synced playlist (not music files itself) on iPad automatically? I get it: bugs are supposed to be “features” but I don’t want this one wtf?

I've gone through all the dev betas on my XS Max. DB1 was decent, and DB2, 3 improved - alll very stable.

DB4 is awful. Switching between apps often requires them to reload. Once open they run ok, but just listening to a podcast then switching to twitter can cause podcast to stop (exit). The phone is acting as if very short of ram.

So hoping we get a new beta today/tomorrow that addresses this!

Dev beta 4 has been awful indeed, massive slow downs and hanging on most screens.

Share menu from inside Safari - Twitter won't show up in list of apps available to share to. Click on more, then edit, still not but if I close out and re-enter share menu Twitter show up. Happens regularly/daily on iPhone 11 and iPad mini 5 with public beta.

The keyboard will disappear at times and system is sluggish and slow as I wait for it to re-appear.
The outline of windows or layers, empty or transparent, is very perplexing. Happens with layout of widget screen at times as well.

If there was an option to turn off the App Library, I would. And ability to edit, organize, and move apps around. As is, senseless. One folder must have 30 items. Maybe an option to always show as a list, and list can be: lasted, last update, as well as by name. I don't like it on iPhone but might on iPad - but it isn't part of iPadOS.

I'd say the most annoying thing is losing the keyboard when you are trying to share something like a photo over text. The keyboard disappears in the middle of typing the message to accompany the attachment.
