I almost guarantee the dark mode will be exclusive to iPhone 7 with the:
gorgeous unapologetically blacker than black 5.5" OLED display

I'm with the person above, I would bet money it's an exclusive to the new phone.

To quote Tim Cook: “We have great innovation in the pipeline, like new iPhones that will incent you and other people that have iPhones today to upgrade to new iPhones…We are going to give you things that you can’t live without…You will look back and wonder: ‘How did I live without this?'”

How did I live in the blinding white light of the iPhone 6s?
Most rumours say OLED isn't due till 2017 though... Or am I mistaken?

I'd probably add lack of additional options/controls for some basic things like DND, Alarms, Blocking, and probably some other similar settings/features.

You are correct. I was being kind of sarcastic. However, it made me wonder if these rumors are false, and it's actually coming this year, to throw people off the scent. Haven't we been hearing that there have been a number of OLED orders placed recently?

Once 10 is all settled down, dark mode could come along mid cycle, a bit like Night Shift did in 9.3, although whoever suggested it as a marquee feature for a 2017 OLED iPhone could be onto something. But would that rule out iPads until they're OLED too?

Hoping for a 10.2 / 10.3 type thing.

Just look at the new control center in the beta 1. The fact that the night shift now occupy the entire row may be a hint that the dark mode is still being adjusted. No way they are wasting such essential space with a feature that is meant to be set to be activated automatically!! :)

I'm guessing/I hope the official release will see the second row being shared by night shift AND dark mode.

It basically proves IPad's are becoming less and less important to Apple.
Seems like they got quite a bit of attention just last year, and then there were new Pro versions released somewhat more recently that are quite good.

That would go against Apple's philisophy of "your personal device". Besides, Apple wants everyone in the family to have their own iDevice not share one. :)

It would be nice if they added a kid mode though.
There kinda is already a 'kid mode' it's called restrictions maybe it's not as complete as you wish but it's something.

Ability to select default apps. I'll withhold final judgment until the final version is actually released, but it appears we are basically being given the ability to delete the icon for default apps, not actually get rid of them completely and/or pick a suitable third party replacement.
