Thanks guys! Never would've thought of that. I tried adding the PC cheats to alot of places in the User.ini-file. Would anyone else care to try this and confirm that it doesn't work? Didn't for me at least.

You want to add them to the correct section of Bioshock.ini.

Its under yourusername/Library/Preferences/Feral Interactive/Bioshock/MacInit/Bioshock.ini

currently set to

[Havok]
HavokNumThreads=2

What does this do?

Where in the bioshock.ini can you add the cheats? I have tried adding the sheets to defuser.ini and it did not work....sorry if this thread is old but I just got bioshock for mac and I want to try the codes out

Try this. With the game not running, open up

~/Library/Preferences/Feral Interactive/Bioshock/MacInit/User.ini

With a text editor (TextEdit works fine)

Scroll down to the first instance of

Delete=

In the [Defaults] section. If you explore a bit you will find the various keybindings grouped within sections where they will be used, default is during game play.

Change that line to read

Delete=God

(or killpawns, fly, givehealth, igbigbucks etc...)

save the file and run the game. Now in game if you hit the Delete key you will trigger the action/cheat listed (god mode in my example).

Hope that helps.

Just finished this one...for the first time. I must say it was a A+. I elected to save the lil ones. Played the whole thing on 1600 resolution and it was great on the 3.06 iMac with the 4670 running in Mac native and not some windblows operating system. Thanks Feral for a Great Title.

Bioshock on Mac

I own Bioshock on the 360 and got the snazzy collector's version with the figure. I'm going to pick up Bioshock on the Mac JUST to support Feral really (it has nothing to do with the fact I wanna replay it but I can't stand the noise of my 360, honest). I played the demo (and seeded to 1.05 ratio) and it runs awesome!

My figure was broken in the collector's edition and I had so much trouble living here in the UK getting a replacement that I contacted 2K. I am the only one in the UK according to 2K that was sent the printed artbook as a sorry, all the way from the US! I guard this with my life!

Anyway, like I said, I am buying this to support Feral. Mainly because Feral make awesome ports! My other half loves Black and White 2 and just weeks after her asking if a Mac version exists it was announced for Mac and I have it right here on my desk!

edddeduck - Did you say that Bioshock on the Mac has ALL the PC/360 DLC? Can you confirm and list what is included please?

Edit: I forgot to ask, does the Mac version have the PS3 challenge rooms? Also, if you purchase a game from a e-store such as Amazon, can this be classed as supporting Feral?

I think it's like this, the money you paid for the game goes to the store/distributor, 2K, Feral and through tax, to the government. So it counts, I guess.

But I think some of the money goes to Apple but this could only apply if you buy the game from the Apple Store or the online version of it.

Yep, it's got the 'Disable Vita Chamber' option and extra plasmids/tonics of the Xbox DLC.

PS3 challenge rooms aren't included. And yes, buying any of our games from Amazon or our webstore or anywhere has been scientifically proven* to:
  • Increase life expectancy
  • Make colours appear more vivid
  • Allow you to drink orange juice after brushing your teeth without causing you pain
  • Support Feral!

Yeah essentially the store gets a bit, the distributor gets a bit, and we get a bit. So Apple only gets a bit if you buy it from Apple. :)

* Note: This is a made-up list. Except for the bit about supporting Feral.

You guys at Feral are cool LOL.

Good thing to have Feral devs around the forums. ;)

The demo is fantastic really, I wish I could buy one copy. :(

BioShock disk will not mount on my quad-core i5

Is anyone out there running this on their i5?

I put the disk in, it churns for a bit and then spits it out. I tried the disk at the Apple Store on dual-core and it mounted fine. That machine has a different optical drive. Applecare suggested contacting the developer but I haven't had any luck in finding Mac support for this product. Sounds like some kind of incompatibility issue. I'm running 10.6.2 and that should be good. Don't know if there's something else I need to install, though.

Man, I hate to drag this heavy iMac in to the store to have the Genius guys check it out. Haven't had trouble with other DVDs, CDs but I've only had this iMac for a couple of days and haven't had much opportunity to try a lot of things.

I suggest you read the manual for the support page it has our support email address in it. :) I don't want to write it here as that will attract spam, you should find it near the back of the manual. It sounds like you have a marginal disk (or a marginal DVD drive) if you contact our support address we can see if we can help.

I know the DVD's mount fine in our new iMac here at the office.

Thank you, I did send an email a couple of days ago but it was to a slightly different userid than the one in manual. I got the other one off of the web page and I haven't gotten a response yet. So I just sent another email (to the correct userid) and I'll see what they say. I'd hate to have to replace my i5 so I'm hoping it's something that can be fixed easily. I don't think it is a marginal disk as this is my second try at it. I exchanged the first one because it didn't mount and I assumed it was a problem with the disk.

OK, have you tested any other DVD9's in your Mac? If they all work on other Mac's but not yours it does sadly start to look like a hardware issue with your drive. Anyway we can find out more when we get your support email.

I haven't tried any other DVD9's in my iMac. But since my last post, I have tried the BioShock DVD in several other Macs - including my 5 year-old PowerBook and other new iMacs at the Apple Store. In all cases, it mounted just fine. So I'm sure it must be the SuperDrive in my iMac. I'm hoping that they can just replace it in a timely manner. I have an appointment today at 11:00 with the Genius Bar.

Genius Bar agreed it was the SuperDrive and are replacing it. It had to be ordered so when in comes in they'll call me and I can bring it back in. They would have given me a whole new iMac (as I'm in the 14 day return period) but why go through reloading everything if they can easily fix it.

I hope someone can help.

I've just downloaded and installed the Bioshock demo from Feral and it installed as normal and when I click to load it the graphics settings come up, I set it to defaults and click play. Nothing happens. I try clicking the Bioshock Icon again and it bounces in the dock for a couple of seconds and disappears again, nothing happens.
If any one could shed some light on this as I can't understand why it won't load.
I have a brand new mac book with all the latest updates
My system has an Nvidia 9400m chip which the game says it supports.
Please help as I really want to play this as soon as possible to test out my new Mac : )
Thank you

Craig

Sounds like your computer has a set up problem or you did not get it installed correctly. If you contact Feral support with an attached support report we can see if we can diagnose the issue.
