Have you been working hand in hand with Amd/Ati too?

Keep up the good work!

We always work with AMD, NV and Apple. I just know in this case NV had a specific driver issue that slowed down BioShock 2 a little on the current OS. Working with NV during development this was fixed for a newer driver update so I mentioned it.

However you should assume that we work with all three companies on every game to try and make it the most optimised and stable as humanly possible.

Usually most of the performance boosts are done during development so customers never see the before and after as we only ship when we are done, in some rare cases the boost comes in a patch. Sometimes the patch is a game patch sometimes it is a driver patch. For BioShock 2 and NV cards it will come by way of a driver patch.

Cheers,

Edwin

Just came out for $31.
Good thing I got it on sale for $5 from Steam a while ago.

So when the driver update comes out, will it just show up in the apple software update, or do we have to seek it out somewhere?

I don't know which update it will be in but driver updates from Apple are bundled with OS updates. So you won't have to look for anything.

Does anybody know how well it runs in Snow Leopard? I know that it isn't officially supported, but the Edddeduck did say it should run.

Depends on your card, some graphics options like Medium and High textures are disabled on most AMD cards due to memory leak in the drivers that the game exposed. This was fixed in Lion. Multithreaded GL is disabled on some NV cards in Snow Leopard again due to driver bugs that don't happen in Lion. HD3000 users I would recommend you upgrade as the HD3000 drivers are an order of magnitude better in Lion than Snow.

Overall you should be able to play on most hardware but you may have missing options or slower performance on the older OS so we cannot officially recommend it as a valid option.

Please note the AppStore version of the game is Lion only and the AppStore will not let you install the game on Snow Leopard. This means if you want to try playing under spec you will have to do so with a copy from any store but the AppStore. The reason Snow Leopard is blocked on the AppStore is Apple don't allow purchases using below spec Macs, if you are under the minimum OS it will block you from buying/running the title.

I have both SL and Lion on my machine, due to some work related apps that are still only PPC I'm running SL like 95% of the time.

Can I buy and install the app on App Store in Lion and run it from SL?
(maybe I have to edit info.plist and set :<key>LSMinimumSystemVersion</key><string>10.6.8</string>)

I'm having a GTX 285 and even with worse drivers in SL I should be able to run this decently?

I don't think the AppStore version will work. The way AppStore receipts work and the copy protection either it will not run at all or it will run for a few minutes then crash. Editing the info.plist will definitely cause the game to not work as expected.

You should buy a digital copy from another store, that version will launch in Snow Leopard. I cannot guarantee how well it plays in Snow Leopard as it is an unsupported OS.

Your machine will be fine in Lion.
