if everyone needs to do this research, why we need a walled garden ruled by Apple?
It is called due diligence for a reason.
Your logic says do away with banks because they offer us some protection yet when handing over our money we do basic checks to make sure we hand it over to the right people and not just random people on the street.

Of course regular money is and can be dirty and used for terrible things. That’s the way it’s been forever. But the fact there are literally loads of different crypto makes it even more attractive to those wishing to funnel ACTUAL money around.

Every major economy in the world would have to completely rework itself in order for crypto to become a fully viable currency and means of exchange like for PAYING YOUR RENT. Not to mention all the undeveloped countries.
As I stated repeatedly on here, it’s backed by your local dollar essentially. If the dollar plummeted to almost nothing tomorrow crypto would also be worthless.

So yes right now and for any foreseeable future it’s an elitist dork currency.
Same with real money.
You seem to have zero clue about international crime and how criminals lander their proceeds through lots of different currencies.

Real money is not actually backed or secured by anyone, it is just an illusion because the government can take away all of your money anytime they wish an don't give you it back.

The part in bold. Apple should be carrying out such checks as part of it's approval process. This is why people put their trust in Apple because Apple have said many times in company press releases that they carry out very stringent and vigrous tests and checks on apps before they are approved.

Why is it now a case of people saying it is the mans fault for not doing checks that Apple should be doing as part of it's approval process in the first place.
Just because someone outsmarted Apple's checks does not make Apple's checks wrong or invalid.

Or like touting better screen resistance to damage from dropping and then refusing to warranty repair the screen of your phone when you drop it and it shatters?
Exactly! Apple haters need to do basic comprehension and understand that condoms are advertised as being for safe s*x yet they are not 100% perfect.
I see nobody having a temper tantrum because one failed one time and some woman got pregnant!
Then demanding that the makers pay for the child through it's life!

It is in its own right and might, no doubt. But in this context where I am talking about failure of App Store team to properly check an app before release, that argument is not relevant but escapist.

It looks like Apple is quicker to catch code that fleeces them of their revenue than catching code and functionality that pretends to be something else. The consumer can be the most stupid person on the planet, but they will claim that Apple let the malicious app through while touting security and safety and vetting of apps, so they are to share the blame.

Again, I could be wrong about this, but I would think Apple needs to take their share of the blame. We as consumers are just too kind to them and too hard on our own selves. Even when Apple has just been proven deficient in their own vetting, we still want to keep the blame with us. Apple is lucky to have always enjoyed such evangelist consumers.
Again... your logic assumes that Apple staff should be and are perfect.
Criminals sometimes can be smarter than those who try to stop them.
That does not mean they are to be blamed when they took reasonable measures.

You would be screaming blue murder if someone outsmarted the system with the result being you lost everything. It's very easy to sit in the comfort of you own dwelling smarting at the fault of others isn't it. Wait till the same happens to you and others react in the same way, you won't be feeling very smart then will you.
Yes it is very easy for you to sit in the corner and attack Apple when you hate them and see them as the evil doer at every chance.
Once again I will repeat myself, good does not have to be the enemy of perfect as you seem to be saying it is.
Apple took all steps they could and yet they got beat so what matters is that they tighten things now which I am sure they will do.

I once got robbed and I only blamed myself and not the landlord because I let my guard down and was nice to someone one time.

I urge that we all stop looking to blame others for our own mistakes.

You cant buy food or pay your bills or rent or mortgage. Thats what 99 percent of people are concerned with. So my apologies for being generic. I know you can buy things. But for people to survive in daily life, using bitcoin isnt possible. That was my overall point.
So what?
Your point with respect is meaningless.
You are still trying to move the posts.
It does not matter that right now you can not spend BTC etc all places.
I have BTC and I can easily convert it to cash if I wanted and on occasion I have done so safely.
You can hate on crypto currency all you like, that is your right but that does not make them useless.
It just means you hate them, just as I hate politicians but they are still useful.

He was stupid. He trusted Apple.
He was stupid, he did not do his research.
That is not Apple's fault and I will keep saying this over and over again till the end of time if I have to.
It is like you going to a car dealer and handing over $20,000 to some guy who stood next to you simply because he wore similar clothes to the dealer.
Then being expected to be called a genius.

Of course I realise that but that doesn't mean that this is still not good. In fact this reminds me the article about Tim Cook and how he interacts with employees at meetings. He is not satisfied that certain margin of error happens (like with any manufacturing) but he wants to know why it happened and what can be done to fix it.
This is similar. You simply cannot walk away and say : "Hey, small % will always happen so its fine" NO NO NO, you adjust and improve so eventually you might eliminate it all. Compartmentalise an issue is not a solution!
This is not Apple's fault and is a case of haters hating because they gotta hate right?
The user messed up and I am sorry for him but his fault, end of!

I once got robbed and that was my fault, not my landlord's or the police or Apple (no matter how much you hate them etcP).
I messed up, I got robbed and I learned my lesson.

I’m sorry but no. Apple promotes security on its AppStore all the time yet allows fake apps like this one or apps that charge 69,99 after a free trial for an app that does nothing

This is Apple’s fault. They have created this false sense of security for the consumer.

They have to deliver, and on this they didn’t.

What your saying is if someone created an app that looks like my Bank and I entered my credentials it would be my fault? Nonsense.
What is your logic? If you get phished in an email pretenting to be your bank you don't get to sue your email provider....
