I tried the Columba beta but I don't see how it could be called a BiteSMS "clone".

I forgot that I had purchased "Messageheads" and have switched back to that. I think there was an annoying issue the last time I tried it...hoping that has been corrected in the ensuing months.

I'm waiting for it to be released first, then I am going to wait a while after that to see if any bugs crop up and get fixed. Right now, through a combination of things I have most of BiteSMS functionality if not the look.

How to add repos in cydia 1.1.16? Trying to add this on
On the Sources tab in Cydia, press Edit (top right). A button labeled "Add" will appear on the top left. Press Add and then add your source.

Would you mind sharing what combination you are using? I like columba but between the screen turning off when trying to compose a message at the lock screen and not being able to reply to a text of the lock screen I am willing to try something else

Well, I'm using Couria for quick compose and quick reply. I have DimMe installed as well so I set a longer time for the screen to dim.

Copic (which I have had for far longer than BiteSMS) handles Contact pics and the stock Messages app lets you mute certain contacts.

The only thing I don't have is schedules text messages, but since I only really use that once a month for one contact it's not a big deal.

Thanks for the advice. Switched back over to couria and it works perfectly for what I need!!!

Ahhh, ok. These are both more of a delayed sending type thing (hence the names). I was referring more to a scheduled SMS.

For example, at 9am on the 14th of each month send the following text to contact X.

I see DeLe lets you set delay options, but I'm not sure how setting a months worth of seconds would work, especially since there would be reboots and resprings in between. I'd also have to set it up again the next month.

Cool idea for second thoughts about a text message though. Thanks for the suggestions!
THIS. that was a huge feature, i loved it... Oh i wont remember to text you on your birthday in 3 months? wanna bet?

schedule a text for 1am 3 months later and look like a hero, lol.

Here's another tweak I added in. Callback for Messages. Puts a "Call" button right next to the "Reply" button on the lockscreen. Swipe left as you would normally and it appears.

You can customize the background color of the button and the label content.

Good to hear but I'm hoping to wait for a finished product on Couria. I always have bad luck with betas lol.

Well, so far it's working for me and I can't complain too much. It isn't Bite of course but I'd rather have QR and QC then nothing at all. It's irritating to use an Activator action to reply using the stock Messages app and then have to leave the lockscreen to do it.

Question. One thing I really loved about Bite was that i could see how many messages I had up on the status bar...do any of the alternatives offer that bit? Its a small thing but I never realized how much I missed that small feature.

OpenNotifier Beta - tateu on tateu's repo (tateu.net/repo/)

Use it to set an icon for the Messages app.

just gave it a go and it turns out it does say how many new messages have been received. Nice tweak.
LOL! Cool. Guess I need to get more than one text message at a time then! :D

Open Notifier has been around since iOS 6 if not before. Originally, it was so that you could put badges for apps in the status bar that ordinarily do not place badges there. It got broken with iOS 7 and the original dev abandoned it, so it was taken up by this new dev.

P.S. If you do a search for OpenNotifier in Cydia you'll find some additional icons.

That is very awesome! I will be checking out OpenNotifer. I'm glad this new dev took it on because this is going to be super useful (at least for me :p).

Thanks for recommending it!

No problem. Glad I could recommend a good tweak!

Looks like Columba has gone official.
Yeah, I bought it today. Had to uninstall it. There's some sort of bug where it freezes the lockscreen after a respring. Nothing will work except a hard reboot. And then right back to the same condition. In the meantime, whatever it's busy doing it's hammering the battery hard. My phone was WARM after installing it!

Someone on reddit posted their solution, but I'm not happy enough with the GUI to try it - yet.

When you use an Activator action for QC it brings up a list of your contacts. Not favorites, not recents, not a dialer, only your contact list. Then you have to find your contact AND then you have to push the contact's phone number to message them. That's not Quick Compose!

So, I uninstalled it, but I did put a watch on the package so I can try again when they update.

Yeah. On my 6 plus almost I lose my jailbreak with that tweak called columba 3 hours to revive my 6+
