Columba updated today. Fixed the lock screen issue. Had some other issues but after a second respring it seems to have worked itself out. Seemed warm again but as I type this I've felt the phone cool slightly so I will leave it connected for a while and see what happens.

Please keep us informed. I want that tweak but I don't want to loose my jail on 6+

So far so good. No crashes. I set the QC to native so all I have to do is start typing my wife's name and then I get her contact. From there it's pretty much normal. If you leave it on Windowed you are still forced to pick a contact from your list then press on their phone number.

If you have resprung you do have to enter your unlock code once (if you have one set) before Columba shows you the conversation you are engaged in however.

I'd still prefer a favorites or recents list but this is acceptable for now.

P.S. The phone is not hot at all now, a few houre after installing so I guess that issue has been resolved.

Right. That was the same problem I had initially. A hard reset to turn the phone off then back on and then holding down the volume up button when rebooting got me into Safe Mode allowing me to uninstall the tweak.

That issue has since been resolved. However, I am noticing little glitches.

Quick Reply, when you set it to Windowed calls up the default system reply box behind the window when you are on the lockscreen. Also, today I was browsing and got a text. I dismissed the text and got dropped right back onto Springboard instead of the QR box just going away.

It works, but just not well enough yet. Hopefully, if this is the only alternative to Bite they improve it soon.

Sounds like it has a lot of bugs still.
Keep us posted Ey.
How's your battery life with it or general performance?
Does it cause any issues or conflicts?
It's not so much buggy as it is glitchy. What I mean by that is that you'll do one thing and expect certain behavior only to discover that the tweak doesn't function that way. Dismissing the Quick Reply box for instance should leave you in the program you are in, instead it drops you to the springboard. Little infuriating things like that.

Once that initial issue of heat up two days ago went away it's been just fine. It's not impacting battery life at all and other than the little glitches I mention general performance is also fine. Just not used to expecting certain behavior and getting the opposite.

So far no conflicts. It's eliminated at least one tweak for me so far as well.

I'm not a big texter so these problems while annoying aren't enough (yet) to make me uninstall. I plan to stick with it, short of a showstopping bug, until they get this ironed out properly.

Interesting.
You made me feel a little more confident :D, I'll have to give it a shot and see how it goes.
Well…it won't crash you, or cause you to lose your jailbreak if that is the concern.

The lockscreen issue was easily resolved by booting into Safe Mode as I mentioned earlier, but the update fixed that. So, again, short of a NEW bug that does something horrible in a future update there is nothing the tweak is doing that seems to be causing problems.

I think where my issue (the heatup and battery hammering thing) was coming from is because I have Firewall IP7 installed. I HAVE noticed that the firewall tweak is asking me for confirmation on connections to an Amazon storage address. This started happening after the install of Columba so I'm figuring there are some calls it makes over there for certain things and my problem with the warmup and such was that I had not granted the tweak permission through Firewall IP7 yet. Once I started granting access that problem cleared up.

So, there's that. The dev has it communicating with an Amazon server. Don't know if that's a problem for anyone else, but it isn't for me.

I see that along with columba it wants to install activator, flipswitch, rocketbootstrap and weeloader?
Are all these 4 extra extensions needed for this?
I try to keep it simple and minimal packages as possible but this one installs a batch of other dependencies.

Well, yes.

Activator because that's how it functions. You use an Activator function to call up QC.
Flipswitch because in order to communicate with Activator it needs to actually show as a switch Activator can use.
Rocketboostrap is a common loader as well as weeloader, which apparently the dev started using to fix the issues with the lockscreen.

All of which I already had installed because other tweaks I have use them.

Well, IDK. I never used Bite without an Activator action so I never realized you could do that.

And…I never really had a problem with it in iOS 7, so again IDK.

I'm using it as well with minimal quirks. No heat up, no crashing. It adds a bit of function, but like poster eyoungren stated, still has a few bugs. Definitely not a bitesms replacement in its entirety, but better than stock. Hopefully developer works out a few issues and keeps the project going forward. I'll give him/her props for tackling such a large task.

Columba update just now...

Thanks for this I always like to know what the dependencies are before purchasing. This looks promising but I also read a couple days ago that Auki is being worked on ATM. I'd rather have the notification center QR or the volume up options like bitesms had...

Well, I've gone back to Couria and Callback for Messages. It's a different interface but at least it doesn't crash on me every time I want to quick compose from the lockscreen.

Really wish BiteSMS was still here.

Homage…
