I can't even download it now from cydia. I press install and it says in red:

subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

sub-process/usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

above it in white it's saying reading database files, removing evasi0n 6.x untether

preparing for removal of evasi0n 6.x untether
refusing to remove tis package as this action will render the device unbootable and possibly permanently unjailbreakable.

WTF?

Is it possible to get the 'Delivered' and 'Read' receipts for imessages in the drop down bit when you quick compose/reply?

For text messages it's carrier specific, you mean iMessage right?

I have an iphone 4s with the evasi0n jb and everytime i install bitesms the phone goes into safe mode. Once i uninstall its back in normal mode. Have tried the 7.3 beta and still no luck, anyone got any ideas??

Bite SMS bug

Anyone having issues with BiteSMS to where your iPhone completely turns off when trying to reply to a text message?

My screen locks up, shut offs, then doesn't turn back on. I would then have to reboot.

iPhone 5

use the repo cydia.bitesms.com and download the version there, thats the best thing i can tell you, especially if your have an ip5.
Didn't work, it's nothing major, I get the receipts if I go into the actual app but not in the quick compose/reply, see screenshot :)

Just curious, does this still send messages to other iPhone users under iMessage (free)?

Yes, as long as the send button is blue, it will use iMessage. Think of it as the actual apple messaging app. Does exactly what the Apple messaging app does plus many many more features

I've been using BiteSMS since iOS4 and it's been on a downward spiral since then. People write on their forums about bugs all the time and either they don't get fixed or they 'can't reproduce them'. Then they focus on implementing new features to attract more people to buy their app, as opposed to making it bug free. I really hope there's better alternative on the horizon..

I recommend iRealSMS (new version released today) or Messages+.

I also used to be a biteSMS user but recent versions are buggy and bloated. I made the switch to Messages+ and I'm really digging it because it basically just adds quick reply + quick compose to the stock SMS app, which is basically all I needed.

Never noticed any bugs until I upgraded to iOS 6

I have an iPhone 5 and downladed bitesms 7.3. It never asked about my contacts and crashes when I compose a text. I deleted and re-installed several times. I give up

i had the same thing happen. bitesms would crash when composing a text because i didnt allow it to access my contacts. i had to go into restrictions and allow changes for contacts. then privacy for contacts to be enabled for bitesms.

I feel like bite is running good on my i4 the only problem I'm having is when I have multiple texts from one person and try and pull down the text to take away all the other ones it doesn't work. I can see our history and all those texts but it still shows them as unread and still on the lock screen. Not that big of a deal because I can just X them out but overall the small problem won't pull me away from bite but I might try the others to see what they are about

Under bite settings/quick reply do you have "mark all read" turned on?

I think it's a known issue, or it was before the latest versions. Pretty good idea to follow their forums for bugs and known issues: http://forums.bitesms.com/forums/6

How do I do that?
