Working in digital can be great. The following shots were done with my Canon Rebel XT to my recent trip to SF. I had the JPEGs in B&W and the RAW was there for color.

I like the flexibility to decide later what works best for the image.

I have about 5 more ready to share if there is interest.

Wow.. those are great! I love them!

PS- Page 2... finally! :D

Well many thanks for the kind words. To be honest because of issues in a recent former relationship, my photography has taken a back seat over the last few years. So I am trying to rediscover my "eye". So this trio was my birthday present to myself to rediscover that "eye".

Since you liked the ones I posted (it does take much <g>), if the others will indulge me, here are the other 5 I talked about:

Thats to bad :( Your really good at it so I think you should try to get back into it and discover your artistic eye again... I really want to get into photography myself... but right now... I have a kinda cheap camera... but cant really afford a nice camera. Artisic is kind of in my blood... but I really need to practice... maybe I should just spend the rest of my summer taking pics. o wait... that only 1 1/2 weeks

Nice photos. I especially like the one with the seagull and the man in the bus.

That photo looks erie (that's a good thing). The other person in the background looks like a ghost. At first my eye goes to the person in the foreground, but since you can't see his face you start to go to the rest of the photo until you make out that dark figure.

:)

Yeah, I really like the reflection of the guy in the background, otherwise it would be a rather boring picture, I think. (I'm not that great a photographer, so those 3 are the best of all the pictures I've ever taken. heh. Though it doesn't help that I haven't had a camera for 3 years)

To be honest, the camera does not really matter. One of the best exhibits I ever saw was one done by the old Kodak Instamatic 104 cameras (these used 126 film).

I appreciate your comments. I do believe that the right tools can help, and I have been lucky to have the right tools for my needs. But I have seen greater images from those with far simple tools.

A good learning resource is http://www.photosig.com. This a great community, like MR. Some of the images I shared are because of of what I learned from there.

I don't know why I like this one, maybe it's the socks:

Some interesting work there. I like the middle one the best. I am one that believes that the best art is the one we believe in. I see the intent in this image, and see it as very worthy of the way you feel.

thanks to you all. While it might not meet the B&W nature of this thread, I will post some of the other images from those 5 days in SF:

Here's a link to my website of, mainly, B&W photos:

Link

Edit: Details:

They're all scanned negatives.
Except the Brighton images, they're scanned photos.

The one of the tree is using Infra-Red film.

Either taken on a Canon A-1 or an AE-1.
Most using a 24mm Tamron lens.

er, anything else?

Hey, thanks for your comment... that one is also my favorite.
That was actually the picture that my art teacher was impressed with and encouraged me to pursue further in art... essentially changed my life. Deep, eh? :p :D ;)

w_parietti22, in response to that picture of yours, I think the 3 kids on the very left should be cropped out of the picture... the main action is where that red-shirt kid is, and the objective is the goal. The three on the left are idle, and I think that is what is making the overall picture... well, lacking.

Actually I am still a Limited member myself. If you critique others works you get points that get you close to Premium membership. I will probably be joining this weekend, when I do I'll send you a Basic member invite.
