I know that when I worked retail, the managers (and our employee handbook) stated that we were not allowed to let customers take pictures in the store :( I believe a lot of stores operate this way.

That's good info to know, it probably did not help that I was wearing a competitor's shirt when I was in there!

haha, that's the exact reason that we were told to not allow cameras in the store. something about competitors possibly stealing display ideas or something. it's all a bit ridiculous... but what can you do?

I guess the thing that bothered me the most is that the guy literally yelled at me so everyone in the store could hear it and was quite rude. Ah well, I guess I learned my lesson!

Why it's DEFINANTLY not an iPhone display

This picture is a poorly done floor plan I made on MS paint of the floor plan of Apple Store 5th Avenue. The curtain is behind a wall, parallel to the Genius Bar. Why put a display of one of the most anticipated products of 2007 in an area where most people don't notice or even go to? If there was no curtain there today, I probably wouldn't even have noticed a display if there was one. I talked to two employees. One said, "It's not the iPhone... it's probably a counter for AT&T service." The other said, "I saw it, I know what it is, but I'm not supposed to say anything. I'll tell you that it's no big deal." Sorry about the bad pic. Gray areas are for iPods, Laptops, Desktops, Speakers, etc.

EDIT: Guess I did this a little too late. I'd say it's especially for AT&T.

Funny how everything gets us in a stir... but I'd say that will be something along the lines of an iPhone bar. Most of the time what get's us going isn't that big of a deal... uh construction? iHammer? Oh if only it was something special like iPhones or ultraportables... :) .

lol im having fun reading this thread, because i was in the apple store today and was wondering what was behind there i took a peak (no guards) all i saw was construction.
