Someone should just risk the wrath of the Apple store employees and walk behind it. What's the worse that can happen? They'll ask you not to come back, big deal. Apple isn't the mafia...they're not going to take you out back, shake you down and stuff you in a trunk. You'll be okay, do it for us!
 
Whoa, isn't that where the bathrooms are? I'm not there, but will be there soon after the keynote (13th of June)... Why would they hide the bathrooms... Oh! The revolutionary new iToilet :D !!!!!!!!!
 
Turns out Apple is pretty smart.

i plan to stop by the NYC apple store tomorrow, I will bring my camera and i'll be as sleuthy as possible.

and i'll report back :)

EDIT: oh, nevermind, just saw in that other thread that Hummer went and it's no use.
 
In the other thread? What thread is that and what were his findings? There's got to be something down there. Take one for the team; there's at least $100 dollar reward offered already for the job.
 
Why would they cover up an iPhone display?

They've shown them everywhere else. This isn't anything important. Or they wouldn't have a big display for it.... at just one store.
 
hey, just to keep interest alive...

I'm going to the 5th avenue store today. I will do my best to get behind that curtain - out of my duty to macrumors :)

i'll definitely post from the Apple store, I'll be there around 10:45/11 AM.

...and then I'm heading to the Bronx to watch Roger Clemens dominate. I'll let you know how that goes too :D

I'm guessing 3ER, 5 1/3 innings, season record of 7-5, Yanks miss the playoffs.

Oh, and Beckett is World Series MVP :D

All kidding aside, good luck to Roger. I can't help but like the guy, even though it's been years since he played for the sox.
 
I'm going with iPhone display.

I hope to visit the store sometime this week to investigate but by time I get there I'm sure the curtain will already be off and we'll all know.
 
okay, i'm at the 5th avenue store now. there is no computer near the curtain, so i can't get a picture of it.

...friends, it is guarded. i don't see how i can get in there. i'll keep sleuthing around, maybe the guards will take a break or something...

it's also in the corner of the store, not very prominent at all.
 
okay, so there was a minute when there was no guard. i took a deep breath, went over to the curtain, and tried to open it... no use! The edges of the curtain are wrapped around big metal poles, so it can't be opened.

My heart still pounding, i went up to the coolest-looking Apple employee I could find and asked what was behind the curtain... He said "Construction. I don't know. Maybe the iPhone?" I think he knew and just couldn't tell me, he and his friend were laughing about it.

I'm sorry, master, I have failed you... ::bows head::
