I just tried the website in the link above and created this (click to enlarge):

It would cost $650 (they do it to your MBA) or $1850 (new MBA)

So, if that is what you want, go ahead, but it will cost you a ridiculous amount of cash.

Gosh, that looks SOOOOOO beautiful, OMG, if I had money I'd buy it in a heart beat, oh my gosh.

Ok will you stop being so ignorant and just admit you were WRONG. There has never been a black or white macbook air and you clearly stated otherwise in your first post it never came in WHITE. Stop trying to cover up your mistake honestly

So my friend and I was talking about the MBA, he wouldn't want it though because it's white which makes it girly. - And I completely agree.

There once was an option to get the macbook in black, right?

I'd personally LOVE it if they introduced a black macbook air, because I find the silverish look pretty dull.

Like yourself?

I myself prefer white/silver over black because it is lighter, brighter and percieve it to be a happier colour than black. If I'm going to use a laptop for the most part of the day I would prefer it to be bright than dull or dark.

I have seen some pictures of MBA's covered in a navy skin which look very nice I'm sure you can find something to suit your needs if you look hard enough.

No, not like myself, I wouldn't let the looks of it get in my way, however that's what it does for my friend, he refused to get the white iPhone too, he explicitly wanted it in black. - Albeit he is pretty shallow.

Thanks, I'll look for those skins :)

iCarbon, poof it's Black:cool:

This is probably the skin I'll roll with, it looks great in my opinion.
Although I'd love the paint job thing posted by cheffy dave, however, I can't really afford that being a student. - But they're so sexy.

wow- Love being able to have a white MBA- however can almost buy a lower end 11-inch refurb for the same amount.

the icarboin skin is a great product - cut perfectly for the MBA, I have it top and bottom. Goes on in 5 min with no bubbles or problems...does not affect unit operating temperatures...

.. Look, I'm saying I would find it nice if there was an option to order the macbook air in black, just like it used to be possible with the macbook air.

Actually, that's not what you are saying. You are posting that the MacBook Air comes in white which is a "girly color" according to your friend. What you don't seem to understand is the MacBook Air does not come in white, it comes in silver. Therefore your argument is pointless.

In regards to a black MBA, with how well Apple is selling the silver MB, MBP, and MBA I don't see them changing anytime soon to fulfill your friend's need of "manhood" with black

Another requote of myself, read before you say something, oddly you're not the first one to correct me.

OP, if you insist on being a man's man.. I have a black macbook I'll trade you for a new MBA. ;)

Lol, I'm not at all, I'm a computer geek with no social life and without even ever having kissed a girl (I'm 19). - I just want my pc to reflect the person I am.

I'd say the silver look sort of says "I'm popular, I'm trendy, I go well with fashion - I am ABLE to get a girl".

The black look to me states something more on the lines of "I'm professional, I know what I want."

Plus it just looks better, although that's to ones own personal preference to decide.

Your friend doesn't want it because it is white, you agree with him, you call him shallow and yet claim you are not shallow. Sorry but am I missing something here?

I find it girly (his words), if I should specify I'd say it looks more like the sort of thing a girl / guy who uses scarfs would use (Not something "my" type would use). I suppose I might have gotten tainted, point taken.

However I'd never let it stand in my way of getting great hardware, it's the way I look at it, whether or not it really makes me shallow, I don't know, I suppose that's a judgement call.

I think the only black made they ever made was a black macbook..

Just wanted to put this, from lowendmac.com:

"The [PowerMac] 5500 was the second PCI-bus Power Mac with an integrated monitor; it replaced the slower 5400. It shipped in 225 and 250 MHz versions and was available in black in the UK (the education version was known as the Power Macintosh ONE in the UK). A black 250 MHz "Director's Edition" was available in Australia."

I saw one of those in black here in NZ back in the day, before I could ever think of affording such a thing - it was pretty sweet though. Especially back then when it really stood out in a beige world.

In fact maybe I need to revise my wants in past Mac architecture; I thought all I needed was a 20" G4 iMac :).

Black Air would be interesting, but that iCarbon look is totally awesome and I'd hope they would do something like that - aren't the MBPs due a new shell next rev.? Really interested to see what goes down there!

Dude... Maybe a little too much information?

Point taken - I think I only left out "a loser" and "pathetic", whatever that's worth.

It does look incredible, I am more of the "sniny looks great"-type of person, however, the iCarbon will suffice indeed.

I second the iCarbons route. I have the white version and absolutely love it.

Apple should also stop making pink Mac Pro's and bring back the blue ones with yellow polka dots. We should at least have the option.
