Well I gave it a try....

Long story short: used the Keyone for a week but, regardless of the battery life, which is excellent, I just can't justify the money for a processor that is desperately underpowered for a workhorse device.

The lag, janks, hiccups, stutters, etc when multi tasking general apps killed it for me. If its like that on week one I dread to think how it's gonna be in 12/18/24 months.

For all the nice design, ergonomics and functionality, the SD625 (and to a lesser extent 3gb RAM) was a poor choice. Shame as I quite liked the keyboard experience (typing/swiping/shortcuts).

I haven't seen one bit of what you're talking about.

Nice to hear your thoughts.
I'm surprised by your findings to be honest.
I have a 7 Plus along with my KEYone and I don't have any stutter apart from if I'm loading a Web page that is verrrrry image heavy or has embedded videos etc. But often I put that down to Chrome which is generally **** for me haha. Compared to the iPhone I thought the KEYone would feel positively snail like. But it's the opposite.

In terms of every day use, my KEYone runs along very smoothly. Almost surprisingly so if I'm honest as I'd expect it to be a lot more janky than it is with the processor used.

I'm sorry you've not found it to be to your liking.
Good to know you enjoyed the keypad experience though. :)
Maybe a KEYtwo with better specs (crosses fingers) will come along.

Good for you, I'd much prefer it to be more responsive with everyday apps loaded up.

Coming from a OP3 it was obvious. Kinda reminds me how I used to think Samsungs didn't stutter and jank until I'd used a Pixel.

Flossy has a bit to say about it, too:

They've definitely got a lot right. Standby and battery are excellent, as is the styling and build. Better chip, RAM, and OIS would be worth extra money.

That Flossy review was just annoying. He took about 10 minutes going through who the phone wasn't for (thanks Captain Obvious lol) and the way he kept slamming it back down screen down on the table had me wincing!

I'm coming from an iPhone 7 Plus and I don't notice a difference. What exactly are you expecting here? I've been using cell phones since the days of the single line LED display and this is the best phone I've ever had.

I can certainly notice a performance difference between the 7 Plus and the KEYone. And a Pixel and the KEYone.

As for my expectations, I feel the reviews gloss over the performance too much. Once you get over the ‘it’s a Blackberry on Android done right’, there are areas where it could be better. I’m expecting to multitask without lag and stutter given how the phone is positioned at business users who will be heavily involved in jumping between communication apps.

The SD625 is known for efficiency (battery life) rather than for performance and multitasking which is where the KEYone suffers. That was a disappointment after having a 650 and 652 in other devices last year that were battery champs as well yet performed without a hiccup.

I’m not sure of your angle in terms of referencing how long you’ve been a phone user. That’s of no relevance here. ‘The best phone you’ve ever had’ is entirely subjective but I’m glad it’s working out for your situation and needs.

Regardless, I’m not here to bash on the KEYone - I’m just stating my findings. Readers can make their own choice if they buy or not.

Got a very odd mark on my KEYone screen.
It doesn't appear to be a scratch, but it's just like some weird mark.

I have some alcohol spray which I use to clean screens and my specs when I wear them, which normally buffs anything and everything off. The but this is still there.

It isn't really noticeable, unless held in direct sunshine and even then I have to look hard.

Annoying that there doesn't seem to be any decent screen protectors for this unless anyone on here knows of any / has one for theirs?

Flossy always does that to his poor phones! It's like nails on a chalkboard to me.

It's a terrible render of course, but it doesn't stop me hoping they do it as an all black would look pretty sweet!

Got a software update for my KEYone today.

Looks as though it's now upgraded to Android 7.1.1. I don't think it was running that before so that's all good.

Although I have got it on eBay at the minute. :(

Don't really want to sell it but looks as though we will be buying this new house as ours sold today for the full asking price!
Very happy but I can't justify owning two phones when I could sell one and use the money towards God knows what.

I adore the phone still but when it came down to it, I just love my XZ Premium more. I can't say this will be the last foray I have with the KEYone though, especially if that black one is true. Gonna take some will power once we're settled...

Looks like the Vader edition is real

Think I prefer the original colour scheme but there's always room for full black phones.

Fisher has his (unsurprising since he loves the KO).

Yeah I tried to post his video but for some reason whatever characters are used for his video link, the forum insult playing fair with me ....

(seems same thing is happening to your link too).

So it's India exclusive? Yet all these techies have them who will likely just lob them in a drawer once they've teased us all with its deliciousness. It's a cruel world. :(.

Looks incredible.

no not MAY as in month, may as in 'it may' ....(potential) :)

Oh blimey you can tell I'm tired today haha.
I'll let them off then. I think the die hard crackberry-ans will make that much noise about it that they'll probably feel like they have to. It should have always been that colour though I think. Looks great. :)

Black KEYone launches in India tomorrow. Those lucky people!
Although in fairness, they've had to wait long enough for it!

Apparently, a couple of European sites have listed the black model as a selection on their websites but not with the possibility to buy just yet.
Could just be an error, or could be something to be hopeful for.

Also, why on earth has this thread title still not been changed?! o_O
