Yeah that's the standard price of it, by the looks of things.
I also have a £100 Selfridges voucher sat around (funnily enough haha) which is also not helping my desire.

I've been watching a load of YouTube videos of it and I really really want it.

I haven't even bothered with anything S8 related for a few weeks haha and I should be really excited about getting that, but it's just not doing it for me currently.

Part of me wishes I had been sensible and waited for the KEYone rather than hastily trading my iPhone in and preordering the S8.
Sure, most people would think I am mad for getting an S8 and then a week later probably swapping it out for a KEYone, but most people know I am a sucker for a PKB, and this is the device I have been waiting for from BB for years.

It also seems to be a BB with little to no compromises, unlike most of their other handsets. The processor could be better, but for my uses I think it should be more than adequate. There's finally a finger print scanner and I really love the placement of it, couldn't be a better fit.
It's also got a great screen size - virtually the same as an iPhone 7 but with a PKB too!! Aspect ratio different of course, but it's only media and games that will be affected and I only really do media on my phone every so often.

And the best thing is it's obviously going to be a decent camera. Exact same sensor as the Pixel! Which is great news. No OIS which is annoying, but unless BB have royally messed the camera software up, it should take some great snaps. From the tech sites hands on's I have read, everyone has been very positive about its camera capabilities which has excited me further.

I literally cannot wait for this device. I know I will love it, I now just have major remorse over the S8...
Rather not even bother unboxing the S8, just sell it sealed and make a profit, get a KEYOne and accessories like a 256GB MicroSDXC with the cash :D

This. Now this, is some good advice. :D

And I definitely think this is the plan of action I will be taking, although there are a few factors.
1. Is this rumour true? I am no way booking my train ticket and days leave from work before I have cold hard evidence.
2. Will I give into temptation with the Samsung and then realise I actually love it and be in a bigger predicament?

Man, sometimes I hate my tech obsession.

It's a shame Blackberry is keeping the release date so secretive. I appreciate my OPO 3T but i'd trade it in for a KeyOne in a heartbeat.

yeah its absolutely ridiculous. There are people who have their money ready and waiting but the fact there is still no release date means they will likely go elsewhere. It's only really the BB diehards who will stick around for it, but id class myself as a big fan and even I ended up plumping for the S8 given how they've handled the 'release'.

IMO they announced it too early and then shot themselves in the foot by saying it would be available early April. Only to get to April and still not have a date. Just that production will start at the end of April. So what does that mean?
a few folks over at CB forums have bought the phone sim free from different online retailers last month, thinking it would be out at the start of April only to have their money taken and now no concrete date.

can't really blame the retailers either. It's TCL / BB's mess.

this is why I'm still unsure if this Selfridges date is correct as if production is end of April, either they have devices ready (albeit a possible small batch) which will be these ones, or its all a great lie to get my hopes up haha.

I wouldn't count on that date, but who knows. The head guy of BB Mobile, says release first in May in North America. He says stay tuned for more details in May. Guess he could be wrong, but I don't seem them launching a device not first in Canada, but guess you never know.

Tweeted Selfridges who got back to me via DM confirming 27th April availability.

I have tweeted BBMobile to see if they can confirm but they're just ignoring a lot of tweets relating to the release date.

all other retailers are now saying 'stock expected' 22nd May so no one even knows what is happening, not even the retailers by the sounds of things.

seems odd that Selfridges would be adamant if they were not getting them. But I believe that they're ust expecting stock to come in for 27th but maybe they just haven't been communicated to effectively? Wouldn't surprise me as TCL/BB can't seem to get that right.

Carphonewarehouse confirming 5th May delivery.
Available for pre-order now.
Gonna order tomorrow and see how Selfridges pans out too.
Be good to compare it to the S8 and decide from there.

Yeah I'm tempted if I decide to change the G6, it will be for the KeyOne

Currently booking my train tickets to London for next Thursday off the back of this rumour that Selfridges will be first to stock it.
I know, I know.
I've lost the plot. :D

Can anyone change the thread title to 'BlackBerry KEYone'?

In KEYone news, whilst we've had no official word from BB, Selfridge's have confirmed through Twitter, calls and from word of staff in store that they will be selling the KEYone on Thursday.

My partner has very kindly offered to go for me on the train from work to pick it up. He loves a trip to London! :p I spoke to the store today who have confirmed they will put one to one side for me so if all falls in place it should be mine on Thursday. I can then decide which i prefer between that and the S8.

Your feedback may tip me over. If camera is good (what makes the pixel camera so good is not just the sensor but the software processing Google utilised) and performance / battery are good with the 625 & 3gb, then I'll likely get one of these over the S8.

That's a surprise! I wouldn't have thought there would be many who'd forgo the S8 for a KEYone (BB fans aside!)

A good surprise though. :)
Be good to see this be a success for them.

And yeah that's basically where i am with the camera. I mean, I'm not buying the phone for it's camera capabilities, as it's a BB :p but the fact it has that same sensor is definitely positive.

The one thing attracting me to it the most outside of the design and PKB is that big battery. I don't see that SD processor being too much of an issue, i just hope it doesn't heat up too much when under some strenuous usage. Or worse stutter along.

If it falls into place and i do get one, you can be sure i post my thoughts and several pics haha. The reason i say fall into place is because my partner wont get to Selfridge's until 7pm-ish. By then they could have sold out. I have rung them and finally got hold of someone this evening (after 6 calls and 2 cut offs) who has told me he will put one to one side for me on Thursday and took my name and number. But you know when you're just a bit dubious...

It's not as if i can just give a quick call Thursday morning either to confirm again as it's been bad enough getting through this past few days!

I'd hate for him to go all the way there and them not have kept one and be sold out. No idea how likely it is for them to sell them all, guess it depends on how much they get and how many people buy more than one. Scalpers I'm sure will be there.

Yeah, the Priv was one of the most exciting prospects but sadly for me (i know for you - you liked it a lot) it fell short whereas the KeyOne really looks solid device and at £500/€600 it looks like it could be a solid buy price wise though when you consider the Moto G5 Plus has similar internal specs for £250/€300 it shows the premium we have to pay for the solid build and keyboard & camera. If they are all great, it's a premium that would justify themselves.

There is something about Blackberry that feels like your rooting for the underdog (a bit like HTC) and part of a special club ....

Definitely agree with that.
I just love BB devices. There aren't too many of them that i haven't liked, aside from the Pearl line.

I mean you know how much i like a PKB too which helps their cause with me!

And i agree re the price. It isn't a bad price for a new flagship but i guess when it isn't flag ships specs you have to question it slightly. Although it's only that processor that isn't really flagship. The rest of it appears like it will be in terms of build quality and camera etc. Plus the first BB with a finger print scanner. Yay.

Excited to get hold of it tbh. I've not been as excited about a phone since Priv, but that was such a disappointment to begin with. It needed a LOT of software updates before it ran anywhere near where it should. I pray the same isn't going to happen with KEYone.
I remember getting the Priv and typing on the PKB didn't keep up with you and missed letters out! If that happens with this i might cry haha.

Selfridges UK now showing the KEYone on their website as 'coming soon'.

Looks like this could potentially be made available online on the 27th too?
I'm starting to get apprehensive about it haha, anxiety kicking in. Will they keep one in store as promised, should I order online if it goes live on Thursday to be sure?! Aaargh!

Either way, good to see it might be online too. Or it could be that they get it on the 5th same time as CPW online orders. Chances are though it will likely be Thursday as they'll have it as an exclusive to them for a week.
Apparently, certain press people are being invited to the official launch at London Selfridges on Thursday, so definitely all go!

Wow that thing is really long.

Honest question, do you think at this stage, the physical keyboard is a major selling feature? I know BB is counting on that, but hasn't the market (and consumers) moved on from that?

Agreed. I don't see a physical keyboard as an asset any more, at this point it is more of a liability.

Sorry, what? A liability? To be able to precisely type a message or email with no errors or need for auto correct?!

A liability is a virtual keypad that can't cinsistently differentiate the word you want to type and the one you actually have typed.

There are people out there who still want a physical keypad for this reason as they hate Virtual keypads. And that's myself included. I detest them.

I can't tell you how many times I've had to correct words in just this post. Sure, it's a new phone with a new keyboard different to my iPhone i was used to, bit it's annoying as hell.

I think virtual or physical keyboard are personal preference. I myself have big hands and can't quite get the hang of the physical keyboards as they feel to cramped and the buttons too small.

Many moons ago i used to manage BB servers for my work. I managed over 1000 BBs from 3 servers. They are soooo easy to manage. I could set new PINs or completely wipe them in a matter of minutes if they were lost or stolen.

Cpletely agree that they're personal preference.

But I certainly wouldn't call them a liability.

So apparently all of the review units are out there and a lot of tech sites have the KEYone to review.

A reviewer i follow on Twitter has posted a couple of tweets about a 'seriously good' Android device. Posted below.
He said we'll find out more on Thursday, which is when the phone is set to officially launch.

Might be something else entirely, but he praises the build quality and the camera. Colour my excitement off the chart. :p

Now to hope he is referring to KEYone!

This could be good

I answer a lot of email and do most of my forum posts on my android so I do see a benefit in the physical keyboard. Especially given the lamentable auto-correction of the LG G6's keyboard. Even G-board isn't great or will cause me headaches when it chooses to not automatically correct a misspelled English word but will auto change a word spelled correctly in Irish to something completely different.

If we get a camera as good as the pixel and performance is on par / smooth with the 625 & 3gb then it really would appeal to me.

I can't wait for your hands on feedback and other reviews to either tip me over or turn me off ....
