It's got the slider phys keys. I don't have preference one way or another, but the device looks nice.

I gotta say, they announce this stuff same day as iPhone launch day. oh the facepalm on that marketing.

You weren't kidding. That was one of the least informed demonstrations I've seen, and it made the video more underwhelming than exciting.

"I mean, literally, the … latest Qualcomm specs." Ah, it's good to know that these specs aren't a metaphor or parable for anything.

The keyboard serving as a capacitive input device is cool. For a couple of years, I thought Microsoft would implement something similar with the Surface—an external physical keyboard with the ability to work as one big trackpad as well.

Biggest issue people will have with this phone is that you can't type with both hands. You have to hold the phone with one hand while you peck with your finger on the other. It offers absolutely no advantage over a regular phone other than to feel a physical key click. I also love the fact that Blackberry still hasn't learned their lesson regarding sharp 90 degree corners.

I swear, if this company had just 2 braincells, they wouldn't be going under.

To be fair, the gesture becomes second nature for a bb10 user, so I would forgive that. But yeah the whole presentation was weak and it looked like he had the device in its hand for the very first time.

I am interested in this device, and a lot of Android users are based off Android websites and Reddit forums....but goodness, the CEOs of these companies just need to stick to the business aspect of the company. Lol. I was cringing at this video.

I think the only killer blow will likely be price. Clove.co.uk were/are expecting a £599-699 price range ...... or €850 - €950 ....

I actually love the look of this phone. And the fact that the keys are also touch-enabled (you can scroll around, etc) is awesome, to be honest.

First BlackBerry device I'm actually interested in since the Curve back in 2007.

I think it may enable Blackberry to keep existing customers - but those that have already left the fold - I do not see it offering enough to bring them back in. That being said I like the device too.

That's ridiculous. How can they expect to rejuvenate themselves in the mobile industry if they put such a high price tag on it?

Yeah I agree. The price at that range would kill it before it even goes on sale, but hopefully the retailers are being pessimistic price wise and it'll come in cheaper ? Though yeah if retailers are being pessimistic it's not looking promising.

That seems reasonable. Father and mother used to have blackberries. Father used his for work aside his old Moto RAZR V3 (personal phone.) in 2011, he ditched his blackberry, got himself a Droid and, has not looked back! His logic was that as much as he loved it, it was not ideal for work and, he hated the scrolling wheel (it broke often)

On the other hand, in 2011, mother got a 4S, and one day after we could return it, she told us she did not like it. We were like lol tough.

I've only used one blackberry (knockoff) and that's a Z431 while I was on vacation down south in conditions where the 4S would have been crippled (extreme heat, bad thunderstorms, and extremely mild humidity.)


As of lately, I've been interested in Blackberry. It's definitely not the company I want to buy my next phone from but, I'm pondering how and if, they can redeem themselves or, if they are just a dead man walking.

I have owned and used many blackberrys given to me by work over the last 10 ish years. Would only ever use it for work email and making calls paid for by the company. For everything else they are terrible devices.

I now get to choose what work device I can have and would never go back to BlackBerry.

Whilst this device looks ok from the slide out keyboard point of view, the cheap looking plastic build quality at £600 is a joke.

The CEO also looks like a clown and no doubt BlackBerry will be gone soon especially from the public mobile business.

I think it will sell ok to current BB users wanting to upgrade and not wanting to step outside of BB's playground completely.

But at it's current price - I think it's a massively hard upsell for anyone else. Likewise if carriers don't carry it subsidised it will really struggle gaining traction.

That's what bb management thought about bb10. Blackberry loyalist will eat it up. They didn't.

What blackberry users are left?
Most bb10 users wouldn't be able to afford a priv, bb10 fire sales have attracted a cheaper demographic that are more price sensitive than feature/brand sensitive.

Not to mention Samsung should have a keyboard slider in 3...2...1.

I've owned a lot of BB 10 devices and they are very very good. Currently got a 6S as I always end up going back to iPhone. Generally down to lack of app selection with the BB devices.
I did side load apps through the unofficial play store and the phone ran them ok. But not good enough. When the app isn't made for that device or that OS, there was always some trade offs and it just wasnt a fun experience.

Taking BB OS for what it is though, it's great. I loved a lot of features about it and I like the build quality of BB devices. I know a lot of peo had issues with them, but I never did with all of mine, including a Passport and a Classic.

What I like the most about BB is the keypad. The fact this has the mixture of touchscreen, Android app support and a keypad make it a very tempting device. But since I literally just got my 6S, and the price of the Priv being £579 over here, it's likely not going to happen for me.

I'd love to get a hands on with one though, as I'm interested to see how Android plays with BB and if a lot of he things I loved from the BB OS remain in some way.
