Ok, so I picked her up very cheap on ebay. Basically its a brand new Z10 for 1/3 of the retail price :) how could I resist.

I'll be putting her through her paces today and will do a full review here.

If there are any specific questions please post them and I'll try and cover all bases in a full review.

Thanks all

Nearly went for one myself but chose Android (Nexus 4) instead, will be interested to see what you think about it :)

First question is already answered, your Z10 seems to be a female :p

It's actually transgendered :p lmao...

So far I like it, but definitely feels a little half baked with a few OS glitches and crashes already, but there is a lot to like.....

Are most apps in App World android apps and how well do they run?

Sadly 'AppWorld' is the biggest problem with the phone. There's near feck all on it! Maybe it has more for America, but Ireland there is near nothing of real merit sadly...... I thought this might have improved but sadly still barren....

Very warm when charging indeed, and does get warmer in usage. Battery life is not greatest so far, I won't last a day on it.

Would you mind throwing on a few Android Apps and getting back to me on how they perform?

Will do. Need to learn how to side load and then I'll try it out. Apparently with 10.2 update coming soon, it will support Android 4.2 framework which will mean far better app support and performance.

I'll be interested to see how much better things get when the phone is updated with the 4.2 framework to enhance Android app performance.

Questions:
Can you sideload Apps onto it at all?
How are you finding the gesture based input?
How are you finding the notification system on the phone?

I'd definitely love to try one out. Hopefully the bargain price works out to be worth it. :)

You can side load apps, but I need to learn how. At moment I haven't tried myself but will try to load currents or pulse on to it.

Gestures surprisingly easy to get used to.

Notification system ok so far but Facebook is wrecking my frickin head!! No way of telling it just to give me notifications of messages or my timeline responses, instead it notified after anyone updates their status etc, which means a bazillion notifications!! Annoying.

Does it seem smooth for the most part?

Yeah....for the most part 'ish......

There are little stutters here and there, and there have been a couple of app crashes too. The OS is indeed refreshing, but certainly just a tad shade rough around the edges.

My biggest concern is not the dire lack of apps on the store, at the moment its battery life. Tomorrow will be the true test as I intend to put its through its paces under normal usage as my one, but I am at the moment concerned it won't last the day by some margin. I hope I'm wrong.

I have thought about the q10 a few times because I loved my Curve keyboard so much back in the day. I just don't want to pay much for it being that it would not be my everyday driver, and like so many others you said it is not the smoothest thing in the world. Keep us posted.

Yeah - at €200 I think the z10 is worth it. If I'd have paid full retail €599 I would be much harder on it and with bigger reservations.

I'll do a full review once a proper day is spent with it :)

Thanks. Don't let it get you too taken in and forget about your HTC One.

That won't happen I can assure you. Android is still a far better experience and I would miss too many of my basic apps :)

Yea I was going to put a emoji faces at the end of my comment cause I know you would never do that, but it seems that the Tapatalk on iOS has taken that away for some reason.

Just in time, as Google will be rolling out 4.3 next month. :p And I'm not sure Blackberry will be able to download any apk's with the new API's. 4.3 PlayStore leaked code seems to indicate that non-Android devices will not be allowed into the Play Store.

^ much the same but missing some features. Will cover that in more details.

Well yesterday I had a 3 sim in and no splash. I put my Vodafone sim today and it added a vodafone splash screen, clearly Blackberry have added some carrier customisation based on when it detects the carrier sim / network. Very strange.

Anyway fully charged and ready to see if it can survive a normal day usage.

OK so it's not going well ......

Before I went for a walk this morning, i got a message about software update. Installed it - took ages. Crashed my handset and deleted music, then put my phone into a security wipe @@@ !!!!

Took 90 minutes for security wipe to complete, in meantime went for my morning walk with my dependable one

Now having breakfast having to re-setup everything once more. Annoying......

Wow that is crazy. Let us know how it turns out, and if you find out any info for why it might have happened.

Yup, it does that. I put my AT&T Sim into my friend's VZW Z10 and the Splash screen changed.
