apparently im not signed up on HB forums so i post here as this is the guide i use for bluray

Seems im getting a cloudy picture in the picture settings preview with some gray blocks randomly over the picture in the picture settings .. (well in all but like one)... plays fine in plex....

any thoughts? i also don't even know what to call this so have no idea what to word search for!

I get this all the time with my Rips. It has no effect on the finished HB movie file. Not sure what it is though!

i use anydvd hd... its the gladiator sapphire release.... but ive played the .ts file in plex with no problems...

i'll try re-doing it in Any..

Step 2

Step 2: The 'BDinfo' step. How can this be done on a Mac?

My LG Blu-Ray Drive is almost here : )

Already installed Handbrake and MakeMKV both work great with DVD's.

TsmuxeR keeps unexpectedly quitting under Snow Leopard : ( other's have this problem too?

only 15+ hrs to go!! LOL

Nice - I used to have this drive. Great for laptops and can't beat the price.

Just got done installing a new BD SATA drive into my Mini.. now waiting for a new BD disk to arrive to test it out with MakeDVD :D

Hi, since this post I am sure you have had some time to use your new external blue ray drive. How do you like it? Some drives have problems playing certain BD or BD+. Are you haveing any problems. The price seems good and I like the size of the external drive. Seems like it would pair with a Mac Mini quite well. Please post a review. Just saw the read speed, kinda slow at 2x.

How did you install it into the Mini? Could you post what drive you bought and maybe a short how-to?

I got Matshita UJ-135A drive.

There isn't much to installing the drive - you have to open up the Mini and swap out the Superdrive. It is on top of the assembly complex, so it's even easier to install than RAM or hard drives. There are a lot of videos on YouTube or OWC showing how to do that.

Does anyone know how I would go about converting Bolt and Watchmen to a .m2ts? I've succesfully done over 30 blu-ray movies now, but can't seem to figure out how to do Bolt and Watchment.

Here is what BDInfo is showing up:

I seem to recall that Bolt is fragmented. Thus, you should be able to open the 350 or 351 playlist in tsmuxer, which will then assemble the individual files into one m2ts.

Can't help you with The Watchmen as I've not done it before. Probably similar, though.

interesting concept. is that done on purpose to prevent things like this from happening?

Well, I wouldn't think so since it's so easy to overcome. But then again, we are dealing with the Studios and they've shown us time and time again that they're not all that smart.

ha! true. but you never know. it probably took a lot of people quite a while to figure out what was actually happening! the fix would have been easy to do though

As Cave Man mentions, open the appropriate playlist file itself in TSMuxer and it will assemble the M2TS files together, which you can then mux into a single file.
Studio's normally split these files up where the disc contains more than one version of the film and the player will access the appropriate M2TS files via seamless branching (saves having to put 2 full length versions on the disc). Spider-Man 2 always springs to mind, whereby the Blu Ray contains both the theatrical release and the "2.1" version.

In your examples looks like the same can be said of Watchmen, however Bolt seems to have the same length movie in both playlists.

Thanks for the help everyone. I just finished converting Bolt to a .mp4 and it seems to work. You guys were right, I went under the folder "PLAYLIST" and just loaded the file 00350.mpls into TSmuxer. TSmuxer read it and I was able to make a .m2ts file.

I will try Watchmen later tonight and let you guys know if I have any success with it.

Edit: I did the same thing for Watchmen and it worked. There were some errors in TSmuxer saying it couldn't recognize some of the files, but after handbraking everything, it looks good. Thanks again.

how right you are!!! dinosaurs!!

Anyone ripped Star Trek yet? I can’t get Handbrake to crop it properly, so I always end up with black bars on the top and bottom (letterbox).

Oddly enough, no matter what I set the crop on manually it doesn’t seem to take.

Edit: Fixed it. I had to do a 140 crop on top and bottom. Why didn’t Handbrake automatically detect this? First disc I’ve ever had trouble with.

Would a Power PC work as well?

I am migrating off a PC running AnyDVD and thinking about storing Blue Rays on a HP MediaSmart Server and streaming to Apple TV.
Would your Blu-ray to Apple TV instructions work for a Power PC, G5, Quad Core with 8 GB do the trick?
Thanks

Handbrake surely is a beautiful thing. The latest version is so good, I was scared they might start charging for it...
