Hello there,

i am about to receive my blue Apple Watch with the dark blue sports band.

But now I am not sure if the color choice was the right one. In my opinion the blue watch can be combined with only a few bracelets.
What do you think? Should I return it and just get the space black model?

Mine is on the way also! I was really undecided about going with a color for the first time. I have a huge collection of bands dating back to 2015 from my Series 0. I found a great pic of the blue Apple Watch on this forum under Show Off Your Apple Watch. I laid many bands on the pic on my iPad to see how they would look. Most were just great. The only downside is that none of the lugs are blue of course. I decided that wasn’t such a big deal, and placed my order. We shall see if it was a good decision.

You both ordered the blue watch, because you wanted to have the blue watch. Exchanging it, because - maybe - one of the bands does not really fit colorwise, would be a bad idea. You will end up lurking around all the other blue ones out in the wild, thinking that allmost all the combinations you see do look gorgeous on a blue one... 😉

I have the blue watch and I absolutely love it. The color is VERY subtle and dark, so it often looks like it's space gray (especially indoors). Its blueness is mostly appreciated in direct sunlight. I own a dark brown leather band, as well as a white Nike sports band, and both look great on it.

At least wait until you receive to make a decision. I think you'll like it!

I came from two stainless steel versions prior (one being an hermes edition) and I can say other than the lack of the sapphire glass screen, it looks really premium considering it’s the aluminum version.
Here are pictures of it with:
- Blue braided loop
- Hyper grape nike loop
- Purple pulse nike loop
Personally, I don’t like a huge contrast so I wouldn’t be using white sport bands or hermes bands with silver buckles/nuts.

Thanks for all your replies so far! The Apple store app and all it’s shiny pictures are quite disturbing. These colors just look different in real world. That’s what caused the confusion...

Not that my opinion should affect your view on your watch but I just posted this on another thread in reference to the blue looking a bit like a toy watch

I’m not in the market for a new AW at all yet, but this is the kinda feeling I get when I look at the blue watch.

Seems a bit gimmicky.

Looks fine if you’re using it for fitness etc I’d say but if you’re using an AW as your sole day to day watch like I do, it doesn’t really work.

Forums are about opinions I suppose and this is my two cents worth 😄

I will

Thanks for your comment- i will use this watch as my every day watch. When I need a more formal watch, I still have my analog watch.
I will check this watch out and maybe it works for me.

I’ve always thought the same and never even had a single thought of getting an alum AW before. Always been a SS or Titanium person. Seeing the blue in person really changed my mind though. Also the decision came from jumping from a S4 to S6 and looking to upgrade next year, thus lowering the cost. Having said that, I’ll still use my S4 hermes for formal occasions.

FWIW, I’m a girl and I have the same combo, and I’ve paired with my other colorful sport bands and they look great.

Wow this looks amazing! Thanks for your effort, I appreciate it 🙏🏻🙏🏻

You’re welcome. And like others have said, at times it doesn’t look like the watch is blue until you are out in direct sunlight. Very subtle.

I'm extremely minimalist and conservative in my tastes but after getting my first ever Apple Watch just under 2 weeks ago (in extremely conservative SB titanium with a black Hermes band) rather curiously I'm now finding myself drawn towards the wild side. I strongly suspect that I will now start collecting a few extra finishes and quite a few more adventurous band choices over the next few years.

Extra bands can reasonably be added to a collection at any time but adding watches themselves seems to me to make most sense to do on annual tech refreshes (launch of next AW series) since that also gets the latest and greatest tech. Having said that though I have a feeling that I might very well crack in the next 11 months, or however long it will be until the next AW series gets launched, and end up adding at least one more s6 finish to my collection. I confess that the blue finish is tempting me a lot right now.

FWIW I think you made a great choice and if you have an Apple Store reasonably close by you can always go in and do a bit of in person mix and matching of your watch with their display bands to see what other colour combos might appeal to you. If you decide the blue band was a sub-optimal choice then I'm pretty sure that you can do an in-store band swap then and there providing you are within your 14 day return period.

I was at the Apple Store this afternoon to look at the Graphite SS, but just for fun, I tried on the Blue Aluminum with charcoal sport loop. To my surprise, I was really quite taken by it. I had zero interest in it until I tried it on and now I really want one! Had they not been sold out, I probably would have bought one on the spot.

Are you expecting to swap out the bands on a regular basis? If not, I'd stick with the blue. It matches really well with the deep navy sport band and charcoal sport loop. At least in my experience, once I find a band that works, I just stick with it. Also, Apple releases new bands every season so you won't be stuck with just what's available today. I don't care for third party bands, but if you don't mind them, there are countless options to consider as well.

Honestly, most of the time I forget mine is blue because it's so dark. My light blue band really makes the colour pop, but when I'm wearing grey/black bands the dark blue just kind of blends in and certainly does not clash with anything I'm wearing.

I love the colour and don't regret the choice. Plus - it's really the only physical distinguishing factor that says my watch is a Series 6 and not a 5 or 4.

Thanks for your photos! They look really good! Actually, I don’t want to have a ton of bands. It would be good to have 2, one for casual things and the other for sports (maybe I get a bike band for that). I was just afraid that I’d be stuck with 2 options, it’s my first Apple Watch ever and I initially was tempted by the space grey / green sports band combination....but from a previous post on this thread, green also looks cool in combination with blue...

Thanks for your comment. I’m a minimalist as well. To me a watch is a statement. As others already wrote, they felt that the blue watch looked rather like a toy...I think I have to see it in person. Judging from the photos in this thread, the Blue Watch looks really cool!

Blue with white solo loop. Did the customization at Apple store instead of getting the preconfiured blue band.

My mom has the blue and it is subtle until you walk up on it and focus your attention. Almost every band she puts on the watch is fire. I’m a coward so I ordered the aluminum space gray. She’s been stopped 3-4 times to have her watch admired so far.

Just as I mentioned above. I would have refused this combination just talking about it, but looking at it, I must say, it has something tempting.

**note to self: No you will absolutely not get a blue one, just because you already have the white band. 😇
