Do they actually charge your card before shipment? No way is so that. You’ll pay the cc bill off way before you get the keyboard. Then if you don’t like and return it... then what?

Your CC refunds you and credits your card.

How can I make my keyboard stay awake longer than about 2 minutes before I have to turn it back on. Or in other words, keep it connected. Turning it back on requires me to hit the screen keyboard 5 to 10 times while having the Brydge keyboard green light lite. But if I stop doing anything with the Brydge keyboard for longer than a couple of minute it goes back to sleep requiring me to do the turn on sequence that I just described. This is the Series II for the iPad 10.5 Pro.

What about effects on screen protectors of constant in and out of clamps?

I just bought a Brydge for my Surface Pro 6 and they advise removing any screen protector as the clamps may create too much pressure on it.

I can see that the clamps are putting pressure on my SP6 screen (discolouring when opening/closing) which I'm not really that happy about.

Can you point to something that makes you more of a fan of the Brydge than the ASK? Is it more comfortable to type on or is there a better fit with the IPP.
Generally speaking (for me, personally), it's the way in which the Brydge gives the iPad Pro a more balanced and laptop-like feel on the lap as well as when typing.
Keystrokes feel better and the multi-angle viewing is better, too. But the ASK is more portable and lighter.

Overall, the ASK is more convenient, the Brydge is more comfortable and better balanced.

Bingo. Afraid of this. Pass.

This is only really an issue if the shims they give you are the wrong ones - with the iPad Pro/iPad one I have (9.7) I had two sets of rubber shims so it could fit the Pro, or the Air or the newer iPad 5 etc...with the correct shims I didn't experience any pressure on the screen.

Yes, but this is supposed to be a premium product.
Why am I worrying about shims and clamps and bluetooth?

The iPad Pros have strong magnets and smart connectors. I shouldn't have to read installation instructions, it should just work.

You shouldn’t have to worry about any of that. In the past, Brydge has provided new shims for the same keyboard when a new device was released that could use it, for example when I got an extra set of shims to allow an iPad 3 to use the same Brydge keyboard as iPad 2. This saved us money. Good idea for a premium product. As for this version of the keyboard, it currently fits the 3rd gen Pro 11” or 12.9” that you buy it for. You don’t have to worry about shims because it will fit out of the box. If the 4th gen Pro can them fit the same keyboard if it wasn’t for the thickness of the iPad, then Brydge could then release new shims for the new design.

As for Bluetooth, it is advanced and low energy these days, once you pair the keyboard it will communicate with your iPad each time you use it without repairing it each time. I don’t get the concern with Bluetooth. I do think that using the Smart Connector would be even better, I’m with you on that, but Bluetooth is less of an issue than it would be if Brydge had to design a completely different backing case and hinge system to suit the new iPad because Apple put the Smart Connector on the back of the iPad. The positioning of the Smart Connector for this iPad release hasn’t made it easier for any 3rd party.

No real solution except send it back for a similar working model. Shipping and restocking fees are not very good.
[doublepost=1547502546][/doublepost]Note that on the iPad pro 10.5 when fully engagement the clamps you will not be able to access the control bar for mulit app use. The button makes the exist app go away instead of floating the bar over the existing app it to access multitasking.

From the reviews that I’ve seen, this has been adjusted in the new versions so as it’s easier to swipe up from the bottom.
Having said that, there is also a 3 key combination that you can press to bring up the dock. Perhaps you can confirm the correct combination, but I think it’s CMD-Control-D (or Alt-Control-D). That should help you out with your 10.5” Brydge.
Pressing the home button once will close an app, double pressing it brings up the open apps, but the dock can be raised with the 3 key combination.

The command option- cmd-d works to open the dock without closing the app to allow multitasking.

Thanks for giving me a direction to look.

I'd much prefer a keyboard like this that has a full metal back with magnets to support the device than one that grips the edges and makes use of the smart connector.

Their web page says “mid Spring.” This is for new orders. But I’ll pass since they charge my cc at time of order - not date of shipping. Don’t want one THAT bad...

I had planned to hold out until Amazon (UK) list them, free delivery and easy returns.

But.. I’m tempted to jump on the pre-orders to see if I can get one sooner

That’s what stopped me from preordering. Charging me a couple of months before shipping is a no go for me. Why would I want them to be able to use my money way before I can use their product? Plus I’d have to pay my CC bill before even getting the keyboard. Then if I decided to return the keyboard the refund would end up as a credit on my CC. I keep my CC’s paid off. My CC isn’t going to mail me a check for the difference the refund created. Preorders is bascily paying their upfront production cost instead of them needing to use their own capital.
