I'm on a Mac mini (2009). It's the first and only IntelMac I ever bought![]()
Actually, my interest was piqued but being an early adopter of an architectural paradigm shift is almost never a good idea This is especially true when alternative options exist that can be expected to support existing and even new use cases for the next 2-3 years.I was sorely tempted by the 2020 M1 mac pros, but I am going to wait for these.
Perhaps not achievable due to size constraints, but is it possible to include both the Touch Bar and function row?I hope they won't kill Touch Bar. maybe just join with BTT and have an awesome tool to work with
Original 15" MBP, Jan 2006: $1,999 low-end, $2,499 high-end ($2,600/$3,120 adjusted for inflation).Apple's strategy:
- Design good feature, sell it for a high price
- Remove the feature, increase the price
- Re-add the feature, increase the price
I could just never deal with a 13" machine. I can see how some people might be okay with 14, but 13 is just too small (and underpowered).I was sorely tempted by the 2020 M1 mac pros, but I am going to wait for these.
If you're waiting on a stimulus check, you probably shouldn't be buying a new Mac..Be thankful Macrumors is looking out for you. They are definitely saving you $$$. This article is very helpful for others. Who wants to feel ripped off after spending thousands of dollars? Not me.
We are still waiting for $1400.00 stimulus check over here... SMH
I just got an intel, it runs everything I need it to run, like 3 monitors, bootcamp, I can upgrade ram,
2020 Mac mini, I can indeed upgrade ram...How are you "upgrading RAM?"
You haven't been able to upgrade the RAM on a MacBook Pro without surface mount soldering skills since the last 2012 model ceased production.
Few people need to run Bootcamp (or three monitors), so you're definitely not the typical user.
You posted you got an intel in a thread about the MacBook Pro. I think his assumption was valid.2020 Mac mini, I can indeed upgrade ram...
Go look, you are very much mistaken.
I said nothing about macbook pro...
That was an assumption you made..
many clearly run bootcamp , and that is exactly why it existed...another false assumption.
I am fairly well equipped to do smd work with both tools and knowledge, but that is besides the point...
I can surly read specs on a Mac mini ....
And comprehensive them...
Sad but true.Apple has produced a steady stream of crappy laptops since 2016. I've been waiting, and will still have to wait until the new MBP comes out to see any of their shameful design choices finally fixed.

I see many having a love fest with m1.
Yup it’s fast, I see io issues with many.
From Bluetooth, to wide screen issues.
sleep and wake issues, and others yet It’s all the same problem “IO” somthing Apple does not have years of experience with, the iPhone nor the ipad needed IO.
also No bootcamp,
Also software that will not run on it.
also no support for a egpu.
also a zero hardware upgrade path.

I see way to many issues right now with m1, for me it did not make sense. And m1 will not do what I need it to do on this day...I passed.
But yup it’s fast...
I would say early adopters of m1 will get exactly what all early adopters of tech get...and it’s never good.
the second or could be third Apple chip May be different, and it all could be just like the beta max....
it’s fast, will it scale up? Will
Io issues get sorted out?
Will developers jump on?
I have seen a few software companies claim their software runs on m1 as is, so thats good....ikmeadia being one of them, they will do no further development....Apple gave the lazy a way out, I am taking notes
On this....and will make future software purchases based on this.
contrary to the masses I say hold off on all Apple silicon and don’t get burned , as just about ever early adopter does...over and over, regardless of company.
I call that wisdom....
at least with an intel, you know what you are getting.
And the devil you know is better than the devil you do not..
but yup, m1 is fast.
just my take.
Also: when you place an iPhone 12 next to a MacBook Pro 2020 design-wise they don't match anymore, they almost look like made by different companiesm1 does have many well documented shortcomings.....
So what? Also: when you place an iPhone 12 next to a MacBook Pro 2020 design-wise they don't match anymore, they almost look like made by different companies
So it makes the Macbook look dated by comparison, and it's well proven that introducing a new design pushes many to purchase, increasing revenue, which is always the main priority. So what?
