Why all the hate here...it is a FACT that Apple is transitioning the whole lineup.

The rumors around what exactly will be included vary, sure, but it is wrong to suggest buying a current Intel Mac is just fine. Will is work if needed of course, but it is not a "good buy." There are better times to buy products than others if you have a choice, and now is NOT a good time to buy ANY intel Mac if you don't have to.

Pardon me, but each time saw MBP mockup with ultra big radius this is always crossed in my mind. At least Tiger and below have this, but not so extreme.

I get this site is rumor based and I have no problem with that. I do have a problem with misleading clickbait reporting that doesn't actually accomplish the stated goal.

I stand by this advice. There is no reason to buy a MacBook Pro right now. This is the advice I’d give to my family and friends.

The 13” MacBook Air is cheaper and functionally the same as the 13” MBP. And if you need more performance, you should wait.

Base model 16" (15" before)MBP should be back at $1799 or at least $1999, This was the case for a long time, until the Touch Bar models.
I am pretty sure Apple's MX chips are much cheaper than Intels offerings, so, lower the price.
Comparing prices it looks like there's about a $500 difference between M1 and Intel Macs. M1 being cheaper.

I stand by my statement that the title is clickbait and does actually provide a buyers guide. It just regurgitates rumors.

"The intent is to provide our best recommendations regarding current product cycles, and to provide a summary of currently available rumors for each model.

This page is based on rumors and speculation and we provide no guarantee to its accuracy."

As to the quoted part you linked to, it is impossible to give best recommendations for prospective buyers when said recommendations are nothing but rumors. If you want to help educate prospective buyers about the upcoming lineup predicated under the auspices of a buyers guide, then do so with facts that actually help prospective buyers make an informed decision.

I made my point and won't belabor it or cause disruption in the thread for those who enjoy this. I will find other threads.
Are you saying you have information proving Apple won’t be releasing additional Apple computers this year with new silicon?

I disagree 100% !

I did my own Analysis & while NOT the M1 Pro model, picked up an M1 Air on Saturday from the Los Gatos Apple Store.

And, very importantly, was considering both the M1 Air & M1 Pro, as well as everything this EE knows about the current state of Rumors WRT what might be out later this year, to come to a conclusion.

IMO, the MacBook Air is Apple's single-best product that takes advantage of the benefits that Apple Silicon offers !

Also IMO, lack of MagSafe is the most important feature that is currently missing, & which the upcoming models will resolve.

BTW, where is the similar Warning WRT the iPhone XR from macrumors.com ???

That iPhone is a Walking Disaster when it comes to Performance !!!

IMO, Apple should NOT be selling that iPhone & macrumors.com should be Sounding the Alarm !

I "suspect" today's Warning may be "cover" (you know, CYA stuff in-case "it" hits the fan).

BTW, neither Kuo OR Gurman appear to be very technical; both appear to be 1st-order Analysis Guys.

I'll stick with my 2014 (just sold my 2019 16") until they sell a Macbook Pro without the TouchBar. Just a horrible piece of technology.

Looking forward to this new line.

Give me an option for Intel workloads and I'm there...until then, I'm stuck.
Seems like you're gonna make a switch, Apple silicon is the way forward, Intel is done on a Mac.

Sadly this whole world resolves around Intel/AMD and Windows, especially in most companies.
The place I work with just provided us with Microsoft Surfaces, God...I hate that stuff, it's awful, even worse....Microsoft cloud, it has soo many problems it's not funny anymore.
My company is losing money going paperless, worse, staff seems to be deaf...just won't listen.

If I ever start a company there will be no Intel/Microsoft ever.

Barring a total development and manufacturing failure, I don't think there is any question that several new M series MBP models will be coming out this year. I don't think there is any question they will have better performance and battery life than the Intel 16 inch models. It is also quite likely new M series iMacs will be dropping in the same time frame.

Will they have all the features speculated in this story? I don't know. Would it be silly to buy a new 16 inch MBP at the moment? If I had no other choice, I would pick one up. If not, why get something that is radically inferior for what is likely to be a higher price when better products will soon be hitting the market, probably for less money.

***************

I don't know if this is the best time to be releasing new laptop computers. Most professionals are working from home now, not traveling or getting work done at the coffee shop. I would absolutly love to get a new M series 16 inch laptop. That said, I think I will wait until the virus is mostly gone and people can travel and eat out again. It kind of sounds like fun going into an Apple store, picking out what you want in person, and driving home with it. You could even go up to the food court and grab a burger before going home. I hope those days come again.

We went paperless years ago. If someone feels they must print something out, they can. I tried to design our workflow such that it was not needed. All of our official computers are Mac or Linux. I am sure some of our workers are using Windows based computers to check their email from home. That is fine, just so long as they don't expect us to support them.

I think it is wrong to create an article telling people not to get a Macbook right now, especially when talking about rumors.
Don't view it as a rumour website publishing yet another article about a single rumour, but as an article showing their latest recommendation from their Buyer's guide.

I just wish they'd made that distinction more clear themselves.
