I have just bought my iMac 27" i5 and I am loving it, I installed Win7 64bit and bought MW2 and installed it, it wasn't to good, a lot of hiccups on native and 1080p. So I formatted to WinXP 32Bit Performance Edition (Scene Release) as SOME bootcamp drivers does not support WinXP 64bit. Overall I installed MW2 on WinXP 32BIT and MW2 runs fine on native & 1080P with no hiccups.

Also I installed the hacked ATi 4890 mobility drivers.

:apple:

1. get a legit copy.
2. install windows via bootcamp
3. install game.
4. play game.

£50 for a **** game that I can complete in less than 3 hours! The guy in the games store said it him self "not worth the money" - I think I'll continue to download until they make the effort to make a game that I want to play and will last longer than 3 hours!

Ive got the new 21.5inch iMac.

Intel Duo 3.06ghz
500gb hdd
4GB ram
Nvidia 9400m
Windows xp sp3 under bootcamp.

I can run modern warfare 1 on the lowest settings, and get 100+ frames in some parts, but in others, it drops down to 38-45. And still, other times its 60-79. I have no idea why, but if i turn shadows, anti aliasing, ect on, i get horribly laggy gameplay, and 20 framerate. (any ideas why?)

I dont know if the mac version of modern warfare runs any better, and i also dont know if modern warfare 2 will run any better.

plus, that graphic card is not dedicated. sort of integrated crappy card. so that's why it can't handle.

Hi guys,

Im really having trouble running the game on my air its the mac version of the game not through bootcamp or anything, its so bumpy and slow it makes it hard to play the game, i had no problems with call of duty 4 could even run it on quite high settings but this one is killing me, any reason why? anything i can do? this is my spec:

Model Identifier: MacBookAir2,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 1.6 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
Type: Display
Bus: PCI
VRAM (Total): 256 MB

Thanks

well, actually you have. macbook air isn't for gaming. that even can't handle some serious 3D software anyway. you are funny because you try to play game with air. get PC.

do as you wish. it took me a little longer than 3 hrs to beat the game, but the multiplayer is the best part IMO....and you can play that for days.

i was just making the point that people who download illegal copies of games should not complain when they are having trouble getting things to work.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 advice needed

Yes, you're going to want to play through bootcamp I'm afraid. High end games will never play nicely with visualization.

thank you Doug for the quick response.

Do I have to uninstall Fusion 3 or can I establish partition via bootcamp and keep Fusion 3 ?

Many regards, Eric

Boot Camp is independent of Fusion. It creates a partition to install Windows to. Fusion uses one or more files to access the installed Windows as a virtual machine.

Buy game, run in Boot Camp, besides you can't play multiplayer with a hacked copy which is really the main point of the game.

Just because it is the main point for you, don't presume it is for everyone else. I rarely play multiplayers.

in a response to a previous post, I was under the impression mw2 had no console.
2 questions: it runs better than cod4? and is the multiplayer like xbox in that you don't pick the game? bc I would actually like that... it makes it easier for me to just play without being told "no explosives in rooms or sprinting! this is real life server!" or some gay crap like that

1. it seems to run about the same or a little better on my machine.
2. the multi player games are chosen for you. i too don't mind that.

Servers only have rules if you go to a server that does. It is easy to go to a normal deathmatch server or whatever you are looking for. Matchmaking isn't as good as a server browser.

running weird on my 13" aumbp

this game is indeed fun!! i've only been playin for a day

BUT..i'm having a weird problem when playing..(counter-strike: source as well)
when i start up the game and begin to play, it plays flawlessly. a minute or two after, it lags pretty bad..
i don't know how to check fps on mw2 but on cs:s i run about 150-300 fps up and down, and then once it lags i have about 10-30 fps..
this goes on for about 30 minutes or so, and then it's smooth as can be

when going away from the computer for a while and then coming back to play it does it again..??
i've already played around with the video settings, and it's pretty much the same regardless of what i put it to..

also the specs on my 13" aluminum unibody macbook pro is
2.26GHz 4GB RAM(upgraded) 9400M 256MB

any help on this matter is greatly appreciated..if no one could help me here i guess i'll be making a thread on this matter :(

I don't know why your mac is suddenly acting weird. but I assume that you have never maintained OS before? there are plenty of software you can get for free to optimize OS.

I also don't know how you set this game. you set everything high? in my opinion, your graphic card is NOT dedicated. it's customized for only Apple mac. so it's almost similar with intel integrated graphic chip (4500 GMA someting). so don't really expect some performance anyway. it's not even 512MB either. maybe if you set everything medium or low, then you can play it very well without lagging. that's only way you can do it.
by the way, in my opinion, macs (excepting desktops) are not good for gaming. if you really want to 'enjoy' games, get PC. it the best way you can do. as a matter of fact, it's way cheaper, and full high spec than any macs whatsoever with way less money.

Game runs like garbage on my MacBookPro5,3. Running Win7 64bit. Maybe the laptop2go graphics drivers are sucking too hard, any recommendations?

Hey guys, when playing games like COD on you MBP, are you using the keyboard, or an external mouse or gamepad??
Thanks!

weird, i have a 20" Aluminium iMac (@2.66GHZ ATI 2600HD Pro) and i can run Modern Warfare 2 in BootCamp on the highest settings and resolution, although Anti-Aliasing slows it right down so that could be your problem

Thanks for the replay archurban.

But honestly there's not much to play with the video settings for mw2
I changed only the texture quality to manual.
Here's my settings

anti-aliasing: off
screen refresh rate: 60 Hz
sync every frame: no
shadows: no
specular map: no
depth of field: no
soften smoke edges: no
ragdoll: yes
bullet impacts:yes
texture quality: manual
texture resolution: low
normal map resolution: low
pecular map resolution: low

I did though, try to exit every possible program running, such as windows updater and all that crap and it did help a little.
It doesn't lag as bad or as long. Only lags for a little while now.

But any further help is always appreciated ;)

Sounds as if you would almost have to reinstall Direct X.

Would be my first thought anyway.

10.6.3 killed MW2

Hi All
I've been running the native MW2 on my imac 10.6.2 for weeks without any problems. Yesterday i made the huge mistake of installing 10.6.3 and now MW2 has gone crazy..., when i use antialias the screen flickers like crazy and is impossible to play, i've tryed every resolution without luck.
when AA is off the game works perfect until i need to "Aim down the sight" (right click) the graphics get all messed up. they look fine when i go back to normal view.

Any settings combination or tips are welcome!

my hardware:
System Version: Mac OS X 10.6.3 (10D573)
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 3.06 GHz
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce GT 130
Type: GPU
VRAM (Total): 512 MB
Resolution: 1920 x 1200
Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)

Do you need anything like a games controller to play COD?

Pretty much as the title says, I've got a MacBook and really want to get this game, but was wandering, I currently only have the trackpad so would probably need something else I'm guessing? What do people have to help them play the game like controllers?

Cheers,
