New italian collector :)

Hello to all collectors! am an Italian boy, I collection of ipod! sorry but use google translate :). I want to find ipod sealed for my collection! someone sells? thanks :)

So, there are no money involved in collecting iPods? Compared to what? Collecting Ferraris? Or am I just misunderstanding you? :)

I think a 7:th generation sealed nano will never be as valuable as a sealed 1:st or second generation now when people are aware of the presumptive collector value, but that's always the case in any collecting before people realize what is going on. Still, if you think a couple of thousand dollars for an iPod is not that much, go ahead now, because they are going up in value every day! And if everybody thinks a new 7:th gen nano isn't worth collecting, they too will cost a handsome bunch of money in 10 years time...trust me, I do know that for a fact!! ;)

Not to many days ago an apple belt buckle sold for some 230$ on ebay...worth it?? You be the judge :D

In the case of the belt buckle, That's a rare and unusual item. They weren't mass produced by the millions. And $230 isn't that much anyways.

What makes you think that a current gen nano will be a valuable collectors item 10 years from now? The 2nd gen iPod is 10 years old, and look up how much they are going for on eBay.

I am a big fan of Apple products, but at the end of the day, it's just a mass produced device made in a large factory in china. It's not a piece of art, and the actual item itself doesn't have any historical or cultural significance.

Hmmm...I'm gonna look them up on Ebay. I'm about to sell a mint 2nd gen. I gave it to my wife for her birthday way back when, and she almost never used it

It definitely has significance, the iPod in general, but NOT the actual, physical iPod nano that someone is holding in their hands.

The only exception being an unopened 1st gen iPod. Because it has more significance, and having a new one still in the box is rare.

People want 1st Gen iPods?

I had no idea people collected them.

My wife has a 1st Gen iPod in a drawer. Just grabbed it and it's charging now (glad I had a Firewire 400 to Firewire 800 cable and my iMac still supports Firewire 800). Nice to see what music she had in 2006.

Anyway you think it's worth putting on eBay? Screen seems okay. Back scuffed. But scroll wheel and everything is clean enough and working. We'll know about the battery soon.

Everything is worth selling on ebay :p Your pod was produced in Taiwan as #3610 in december 2001. If you had the original box it would be interesting to many collectors!

Don't expect to become a millionaire like some others ;)

Oh...well ok then! I'll better throw out my collection now when you have proven it to be useless, worthless and has no cultural meaning or any significance at all. What was I thinking??

Any advice on what to collect instead? I do not want to start collecting something useless again  Before you point me in any direction I have to tell you I do not have the same economy as you thou, to me a couple of hundred bucks is a serious amount of money!

Calm down guys. There no need to debate here. You collect what you want to collect. Problem solved

Well not really. If it sells for $10 then it's not worth my time to answer questions, package, post, and then hope the guy doesn't cause problems saying he never got it or it is scuffed more than he thought etc...

Are we talking $10 or $60 here? No accessories, no packaging.

Thanks for helping me understand this interesting market.

BTW. the battery seems fine.

no one answer me? I want to increase my collection :)

This thread is not for selling iPods my friend ;)
Its for collectors sharing their collections and thoughts about collecting! If you want to buy iPods check Ebay and other auction sites! If we start making deals in this forum, we are breaking the forum rules...

I would definitely hold onto it. I mean, for decades.

What a good find Fralle. Very nice looking sealed blue iPod mini. Even the cardboard is original from Apple, I assume.

Do you guys ever worry about your BNIB iPods having battery leaks? I don't think they're quite old enough yet to worry about that, but the 8+ year old ones? Maaaaybe. It's not like old computers where the batteries were sealed in plastic cases, they're just in foil packs.

I started up my 2nd gen, 10gb iPod a few weeks ago and to my horror, the battery ended up swelling up XD It took about a week for the swelling to get down enough that I could open it and remove the battery. Thankfully, no leaking - but you'll want to consider that if you ever fire one up for the first time.

In a way it's pretty cool though, but I don't think I could have the self control to not open all of the packages. XD

Of course :D

To be honest, I haven't really considered this problem to much! I have never had an iPod with this problem yet, so...what do you all think?
