Putting my phone into Airplane mode seemed to have fixed the issue... for now, does anyone have any updates?
Wouldn't putting it into airplane mode result in it not even getting any calls at all?

I just got my new iPhone 12 Pro on Friday. All was well, but then my phone calls started going straight to voicemail. Of course I checked to see if Do Not Disturb was on, but it wasn’t. I tried everything and eventually reset the network settings; that seemed to fix the issue - temporarily. The same issue happened yesterday, so I reached out to Apple AND to Verizon. Both ran diagnostic checks on my phone and found nothing wrong. I even popped out my SIM card ano put it back in, just in case. All was fine until I woke up this morning after fixing it yesterday, and the problem came back yet again. I toggled DND and a couple of other buttons, and that fixed it. For now.

Has anyone else had an issue like this? I’m thinking it’s an iOS 14 bug, but I could be wrong. I use sleep mode, so could there be a bug somewhere with that? It’s not that I get many calls (and I do let most go to voicemail), but it’s still a nuisance. Apple chat text support is no help, and they’re telling me to call Apple support. Any ideas?
Just talked with a spvr at AppleCare+. This worked: Turn ON "Silence Unknown Numbers" for 20 seconds - then turn it off again. She tested it - it worked. I had a friend call - it worked. And she's going to call me again tomorrow to be sure it really really worked!!!

Physical for me. I replaced my sim at Verizon and so far so good. Will see tomorrow / tonight.
New AT&T Sim didn't solve the problem for me. But after talking w/ AppleCare+, what worked (so far) is to turn ON "Silence Unknown Callers" for 20 seconds, then turn back off again.

That is the weirdest thing. My wife - same phone - didn't have the problem. But I did, on both my phones. (I got a 12 Pro - had the issue, got a new SIM - fixed the problem. Used that new sim in a 12 Pro Max (gave the 12 Pro to family) and ... had the problem again! So I went back to the old 5G sim that came with the 12 Pro - problem went away LOL).

For me, toggling Airplane mode fixed the problem ... temporarily - till the next day - then I had the problem again. It wasn't till switching SIMs did the problem go away permanently. (Till I got a new phone, again then had to switch phones again).

Meanwhile, my wife - same phone, same plan, ... no problems. lol. Same for the lucky family member that got the 12 Pro - no problems. LOL

I am dealing with the same issue with iPhone 11 Pro Max on Verizon. I had a new SIM card, wipe the iPhone out clean, and the issue keeps creeping up. I'm at the point so feed up that I want to switch carriers. How can this be going on?

I switched from Verizon to spectrum and so far so good

Was brought here late because I am having the same issue on my Verizon iPhone X. It seems that the issue is caused by VoLTE. Took a lot of fiddling around until I came upon that. Once I turned it off, I started getting calls. The funny thing is that it was happening even when I was connected to WiFi. Of course, turning it off now means I can't use data when I'm on a phone call.

Issue is mainly caused by having sharing your phone service with other devices: watch, iPad, Mac, etc.

Variation on a theme: XR here, and for a time, an incoming call would ring once or not at all and then go to voicemail. All of the usual suspects (DND, Silence Unknown Callers, etc) were checked / disabled / re-initiated with no effect.
Contacted my provider and they checked their settings and said everything was fine, though one CSR did admit they'd had other cases where this was happening. They walked me through re-setting the time (therefore number of rings) before voicemail kicked in. We tested that - and if they called through using a company line, the phone rang properly. If the call came from a private line, one or no ring before voicemail. They insisted it wasn't anything they had done to the service - but admitted they weren't sure.

Great.

Left in that situation with the promise they'd contact me if they had a resolution. Never heard back, but then it seems it later corrected itself - not sure if that coincides with subsequent OS update...
