Absolutely. So am I.

Nice how you ignored the question. How is the future obvious? If the future is that obvious to you, then you should just play the lottery and be done with it.

Intelligent forecasting, obviously. All you have to do is use your head and take in the big picture, pay attention to trends, understand people (and their behaviour as consumers) and perceive the greater market forces at work.

Lol you don't need an advanced degree to see where the market is headed. Or rather, you might just be afraid of the risk of venturing this sort of analysis.

Your lottery comment is just bizarre.

Future sight or whatever aside, I think it is rather naive to assume that one bit of hardware and software will be the future of all personal computing technology. One size never fits all, I didn't really like my iPad, and as meaningless and anecdotal you may think my opinion is, there will be many people out there who either have no need or want something different from an iPad.

The fact that the Kindle Fire has sold well but not made a dent in iPad sales demonstrates this. More choice brings in more consumers. When Windows 8 tablets arrive, we will see more people buy into Tablets. Maybe even more if Google actually make a decent tablet version of Android. That doesn't necessarily mean that the iPad will fail, the market will expand due to there being more choice for consumers.

I'm personally looking forward to Windows 8. But hey, my opinion, and anyone else's who doesn't fit in with a pro-Apple mindset is totally anecdotal. Right?

If it were that easy to predict the future, every company would be doing it. They aren't, and you'll even admit that. There is no risk to someone sitting in front of the keyboard typing out a forecast. That comment is just bizarre.

That means you can't predict the future either (hence the lottery comment - so much for intelligence). Even Steve Jobs failed at doing so on a number of occasions.

Here is my opinion PC and servers aren't considered mainframes yet they serve a similar purpose or a cellphone isn't considered a calculator despite being able to serve a similar purposes. It really doesn't make sense to include an iPad unless you include dumbphones, PMPs, and thing like that which don't have that functionality.
