Mobile Me has destroyed my data

MobileMe has destroyed and degraded 20 years of my business contacts.
I thought syncing 4 computers would be a safe thing to do by duplicating my contact list.
Instead it killed amd mamed many thousands of my company's database of vendors and client contacts.
I also noticed that there are many others that this has happened to and something needs to be done.

Please don't tell me that I shoud have backed up my data.
I never in a million years would have thought that an apple product would have caused so much damage.

You're not supposed to use MobileMe for business purposes.

Also: why on earth did you not have a backup for your company's thousands of contacts!?!?

I think the only "user error" that has occurred is that people misinterpret cloud syncing as a back up by nature. As an IT professional, I can see how someone who is not an ultra nerd like myself would confuse these ideas.

Some can be, but based on settings, all are not. Based on the settings the people used who lost data, I believe it's as if they were eliminating ALL data from their phones / mobile devices and letting mobileme hold all of it for them. Once mobileme was gone, everything the phone had given to it was gone.

I have made an illustration to show what I think the interactions were for the people that lost their info. To them, I am sorry :(.

I don't think there is any bait and switch situation or mischievous activity going on (on this topic anyway).

It would be like if I was picking out and tailoring my wife's wedding dress without her around, based on her prior comments of what she wants it to be like. Things would come out way wrong just because I don't read wedding magazines all day like she does.

It sucks to lose your contacts but at the same time I'm glad the people complaining here lost their 1000+ contacts. Why? Because they all seem like the kind of people that use the To line to write/forward messages to every single person they've ever had any communication with in their life.

Please don't tell me that I shoud have backed up my data.

k. May I say that you're screwed because you didn't backup your data?
