has anyone been able to install Mojave on a MacBook Pro 2018 using USB?
No, I've been trying to perform a clean installation via a USB-C Flash Drive prepared with the latest macOS Mojave Beta 5 installer without luck. Even after disabling secure boot and selecting allow booting from external media in Recovery Mode, the system refuses to boot from the Mojave startup disk, claiming a software update is necessary.
If anyone has any luck with this, please advise! I've never had any problems performing a clean installation of Mojave Beta from a flash disk on my 2016 model. Perhaps the upcoming public beta version will solve this issue?
Edit:
OK, I was finally able to boot from the USB-C Flash Drive by first installing macOS Mojave Beta 5 from the application within the internal SSD and then rebooting into the USB-C Drive startup disk and performing the installation a second time after erasing the internal SSD. Apparently, the original system's macOS High Sierra was unable to boot from the external media, but after "upgrading" to Mojave Beta 5 the external disk was recognized and I could proceed.
was able to install latest beta and no issuesHi! Has anybody installed Beta 5? I got my MBP on Sunday and installed Beta 4, and I have the brightness issue also, so I want to know if it's solved in beta 5, or if it's just easier to downgrade to High Sierra
By no issues, you mean brightness for example is fixed ?was able to install latest beta and no issues
Yep! Just finished installing and the brightness issue is fixed!!By no issues, you mean brightness for example is fixed ?
check to make sure your FileVault is not turned on if it is you will have to turn it off and decrypt the driveI'm on a 2017 MBP and just tried to download Beta 5 and it gave me this message:

when you turn it off it should decrypt I accidentally did that on my iMac but it takes awhile both waysYes FileVault is on and is currently encrypting with no option to end encryption. So basically I have to wait until it's done, then turn it off and there will be a selection to decrypt?
And thank you for the heads up on that.
Great, thank you again.when you turn it off it should decrypt I accidentally did that on my iMac but it takes awhile both ways
You should just wait until the encryption process is done, and then try the installer. I have FileVault enabled and I was able to update, you just cant while it's working on it.Yes FileVault is on and is currently encrypting with no option to end encryption. I also have FileVault on and never had this issue. I would also recommend just waiting for encryption to finish then do the update. You should just wait until the encryption process is done, and then try the installer. I have FileVault enabled and I was able to update, you just cant while it's working on it.
Leave FileVault on, it's more secure. Unless the installer tells you it is not possible, you could then turn off FileVault and decrypt, but I don't think that's gonna be an issue.
Yes I did it! back from Mojave to a complete re-install of High Sierra via their Internet Recovery mode... Didn't work first maybe due to connection issue in China but as I am in Japan I was able to do it like 2 days ago! Work like a charm now. Will wait for some software to be released before going to Mojave like Logic X Final Cut and so on...Out of curiosity, has anyone with a 2018 MacBook Pro been able to revert back to High Sierra with the Internet Recovery option? Has this been fixed yet?
Full release does not install on newer MBP. Many have the same issue on Apple support forum.Yes I did it! back from Mojave to a complete re-install of High Sierra via their Internet Recovery mode...
