Hello,
I've been following this issue for awhile. I'm on my second IPP11 and glass screen. The first ipad pro 11 I purchased was back in November. I experienced really bad touch sensitivity issues with the Omoton glass screen protector. It was so bad that I thought I had a defective ipad. I called Apple Tech support who told me to troubleshoot I needed to take the screen protector off. I was hesitant as I had achieved the Holy Grail of installations...perfect alignment, no bubbles, and no dust under screen. Of course I gave in and took the screen shield off and the touch sensitivity returned to normal. I returned the ipad because I refuse to carry something that expensive without a screen shield.

Fast forward to January, decided to try again. Purchased 2nd IPP11. I had it for a week before I opened it cause I was waiting for someone to mention a glass shield that actually worked with the IPad11. Finally decided to open it because of the bent ipad issue. I wanted to make sure I didn't have a bent Ipad before the 14 day return period ran out. This time I applied a Skinomi Glass shield that I bought back in December. Some Amazon reviewers did report touch sensitivity with this one too but overall the glass shield had a 4 star rating with over 200 reviews.

Its been 4 days and while I have noticed some touch sensitivity issues, it hasn't been as bad as what I had with the Omoton glass shield. With the Skinomi glass shield, I do feel that I have to touch a tad bit harder on it than what I would with my Ipad Pro 10.5 but not abnormally so. Also, the apple pencil and FaceID work fine with no issues noted. Despite the fact that the Skinomi shield didn't come with any guide stickers or dust removal stickers I was able to apply it with no bubbles or dust under the screen. To achieve this I apply my screen shield in a super steamy bathroom and I wipe down the front and back of the screen protector as well as the ipad before applying. I go really slow and remove bubbles as I lower the shield onto the device. Overall I would give the Skinomi glass shield 2 thumbs up...at least for now.

If the touch screen sensitivity gets worse I plan to try the screen protectors listed below as they are suppose to be thinner at .26mm vs the typical .33mm. Don't know if that will make a difference but its worth a try.

Megoo Glass Shield $17.78
Orzero Glass Shield $10.98

Sorry for the long post!

I’m like a surgeon when it comes to screen protectors. I do it under an exhaust vent in a bathroom or near a kitchen stove. Scrub my hands and wear a hat to reduce any chance of dander too.

Did you apply in a steamy bathroom?

Negative

I usually let Apple Store or Best Buy apply my protectors so someone with many repetitions does it and I have reject ability. I really do have another iPad purchase hinging on a workable glass screen protector. thank you.

I just clean the screen, clean the protective film on the the screen protector and make a long hinge from
painters tape. A burst of canned air before lowering it slowly to about 2/3 the way across then dropping it in place.

I frequently ship from the US to Europe and it's a good 60/40 ratio on packages arriving with a decent amount of damage. The very last box I sent was crushed on one side. Luckily it was the side that had the most 'fluff' to prevent damage to the contents. So to see that MD ships in a plain envelope is a huge concern for me when it's coming from so far away, across many handoffs.

Figured I'd show some proof so you don't doubt me:

I’ve lived in 2 countries in Asia for over a decade and spent so much time in Europe with my R&D team in Germany I had to have my mail forwarded for months at a time on more than one occasion. Out of the hundreds of letters and parcels I’ve received, maybe a handful were slightly bent or had the corners poked in.

Enough with the shipping obsession problem, which is now apparently with amazon.

You have 3 choices. 1 only buy what you can find in the store. 2 accept the risks of buying online, realize if the package is damaged the merchant will make it right or dispute the charge on your credit card if they won’t, then find something else 3 put the iPad in a box and dont use it.

Back OT. @rwilliams Any updates on the amfilm glass? I’m guessing all the glass makers are making their screen protectors much thinner to accommodate the wonkiness of the IPP screens. It’ll be interesting to see if the protection is compromised. It’s crazy that Anker and Tech Armor pulled their glass and still don’t have something else on the market, Zaggs 2nd attempt doesn’t seem to be much improved.

Zagg is pricing themselves out of the market. The whole blue light filtering feature is a sad attempt to justify their exorbitant price. $64 for one screen protector. Ridiculous. Based on reviews it seems like most people are still having touch sensitivity issues with the revised glass.

The TechMatte amFilm is still working perfectly. No issues with Face ID, no issues with taps or the pencil not registering.

Thanks! I have the MediaDevil now but it’s bad with fingerprints and goes right to the edge which restricts me only to magnetic cases, I wanted to put on the red DinoCase that I just got for some side protection and maybe pick up a Magic Keyboard but it unfortunately lifts.
Strange... I have the Media Devil too and it fits perfectly into the OtterBox 360.

I ordered a tempered glass one and a matte one to try out.
The glass model made several keys on the keyboard unresponsive.
The matte model presents no such issues, seems to reduce glare, and definitely makes the Apple Pencil feel considerably better to use.

I can reccomend this.

But I still cannot for the life of me get a $#*&/ screen protector on without dust bubbles. I wish they were gas-permeable, so they’d just collapse down around the odd speck of dust that invariably makes its way in.

45 minutes in and it’s working fiine, 95%.

Issues are starting to accumulate with this TechMatte AmFilm glass protector. I was unable to swipe around "Today View"
last night to the point i had to get out of bed and fetch the pencil. Getting to be a bit annoying, think i'm going to bail on this screen protector.

Uhhh.... I just got my new iPP11 yesterday and also picked up an apple pencil too. Today is the day I apply it and finally get to use a new iPad in all its glory... hopefully.

What case were you using when touch issues were happening?

This is why I actually prefer film, installation is just massively easier than glass. With glass if you **** up, you maybe get one or at most two chances before the adhesive craps out and you have to toss it. With film, I can use Scotch tape to remove dust as many times as I need to. Downside is I haven’t been able to find one that doesn’t scratch from Apple Pencil yet, but I think the Power Support is finally going to fit the bill. They flat-out advertise having Apple Pencil in mind when designing it.

Question for any of those with the Zagg glass protector on the 11-inch Pro: do you notice decreased responsiveness from the screen overall with the protector applied? I’m not sure if it’s because mine appears to be defective in one corner, however I definitely notice just scrolling thru Safari and what not that some of my swipes are either not recognized or not fully recognized (I only get half the response I was expecting).

One of the best things about the iPads are the 120Hz screens and decreased sensitivity with screen gestures would really ake away from that experience. Wondering if my replacement Zagg protector (arriving any day now) will have the same issues with decreased responsiveness.

On a side note, I have learned how to position FaceID to where the problem is nearly eradicated. It does require more effort/thought than before with the screen protector applied but if I angle it correctly I can get it to work consistently. I could live with the FaceID with the Zagg protector, but not sure I could also deal with decreased screen responsiveness.

Reporting in so far, first few minutes with the amfilm iPad Pro 11 glass.

Installation is quite annoying with this brand. Due to the size of the glass, it is very difficulty to get it to align perfectly to the millimeter around all of the edges. The main issue is the top plastic coating with tabs comes right off as soon as any of the sticky residue underneath touches the iPad screen, so if you mis-align 1mm to the left and the left edge touches, the plastic top layer already starts to come off, so you can't re-align that way. I had to be extremely careful with my nail along the edges and slowly work it back up bit by bit.

The protector alignment was then flawless, though I found a defect in a sort of 'bubble' underneath. There is no dust or dander, it's almost an oil like effect yet not a bubble either. It will not go away.

As far as touch, so far I've only played with it as far as setup and home screen. Adding passcodes and logging into iCloud were not always accurate. I could hear the sound effects 'double clicking' even though I pressed a letter once. I tested this flat on my bed and also by hand holding. I have not tested it with a case yet, which I own the official Smart Keyboard folio.

Currently factory restoring with a fresh install due to bloatware always being added out of the factory box. Will report in later after a good amount of testing.

Edit: quick note... entering credentials after doing a factory restore on iTunes with a fresh ipsw. IPP11 is still plugged into my iMac and have noticed NO touch issues so far while logging in and setup. When not plugged in, flat on a table letters and input were wonky. No test with a case or magnet folio yet.

Bloatware? ? Or do you mean apps that you do not use or value? There's a difference.

Yes bloatware. apple store app, garageband, imovie, pages, keynote, etc. Out of the box there are a total of 8 added apps to iPads. I had 244GB free from a 256GB model. After a clean install and fresh ipsw through iTunes, there were no added apps and 249GB free.

I always wipe any new apple device before first use as apple adds additional apps.

I know. But I just don't characterize the apps as Bloatware. Now Android and Samsung add Bloatware.

I’ve been using this thread as a reference for a while so thanks everyone for your insight. I purchased the 11 inch pro a couple weeks ago and initially used the Amfilm plastic protector, which was fine, but I missed having glass. Today I installed their glass version.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JQ3YZT7/ref=psdc_2348631011_t1_B07KJ7L1ZF

Installation went well, since it has a film on the screen side and then two tabs on the top and bottom of the other side to help align everything. I didn’t have to redo the face ID setup, and everything is generally working well. HOWEVER, I have noticed that if I touch the screen with the entire flat part of one of my fingers it’s non-responsive laying flat on a table. But if I use more of the tips of my fingers, I don’t have any issues. This issue resolves itself the second I pick up the iPad, and I can use the entire finger again.

I noticed this because I had my hand on the side of the iPad on a table and was trying to scroll use my thumb, but since a big portion of my thumb was touching the screen it didn’t work, until I picked it up off the table. All in all I’m going to keep this on and use my fingertips more since I think it’s worth having the glass over the plastic.

Reporting in after several hours of testing the amfilm glass.

Touch sensitivity is mostly good. I can touch the screen with accuracy often, though it seems if the iPad is flat on any surface and I use my thumb, it doesn't respond. If I lightly touch any edge of the iPad then sensitivity is 100% normal. Holding the iPad and using it is entirely normal as well.

As far as the pencil, accuracy is dead on in my testings. I did notice since it's glass, it is super smooth and easy for me to fumble writing words in the notes app. I can understand now why heavy pencil users suggest matte screen protectors.

Summary for amfilm glass screen protector:

Touch inputs are missed just like every other glass unless you touch the sides.
This was tested flat on any surface as well as in the magnet Smart Keyboard folio. As soon as you pick it up, no issues with touch whatsoever. apple pencil works mostly without issue. I do not use faceid so no testing there.

Adding in an edit. Using the iPad in the elevated angle mode with the Smart Keyboard has no issues with the glass. I was able to scroll and touch the screen without issue.

To me bloatware is defined as unnecessary apps forced on a user that serve no purpose to most. I bet 99% of people don't use keynote on their iPad. Nor is the apple store app necessary. I always just download a fresh ipsw with iTunes and wipe my new iOS devices. That is how they should come out of the box, not with 5GB of forced apps that you have to delete.

Maybe I’m doing something different, but I have had ZERO touch issues with the amFilm Glass Screen Protector. My first install was spotless, but after dropping the iPad (slid right out of the Apple keyboard folio) I got a huge gash and had to redo. The second install has some dust under the screen so I ordered a whole new set to try again at some point. It really doesn’t bother me much unless the screen is off and then i notice it.

There are way too many mixed results with these glass screen protectors. What we need to see is one or more of them that gave consistently good experiences.

I can say the amfilm glass is mostly good. There are times it doesn’t register touch or seems wonky, particularly with my thumbs while scrolling... the thing is, if I have to use my thumb to scroll, I’m already holding it so there’s skin contact on the sides. Another benefit is the grease and oil marks are way less. My hands are always clean and there are almost no oil marks anymore.

I’d say the amfilm brand works 95% of the time. The Apple Pencil is quite slick on it though. Perhaps I’m just not used to it yet.
