So glad I waited patiently since Xmas for this update. Always thought it was software. I just kept my Omoton glass screen protector on since Xmas. Now it’s perfect since 12.2.

Thankfully requested replacement Gorilla glass protector which has been accepted and should arrive over next few days.
Not as much luck awaiting Smart Keyboard to return to stock via mobile provider.

Brand new replacement Gorilla Glass 11" protector arrived today.
Delighted as it includes removable film to reveal sticky side.
Installed beautifully and have to add-touch screen is flying.

Geez. Thanks guys. Because of this thread I bought an 11 yesterday. As I stated somewhere in here I had an 11 and returned it due to inability to put glass on it. Yesterday I bought a 256gb WiFi then drove 40 mins to nearest Zagg store and had glass put on right out of the box. Got it home and faceid was failing with camera covered error.

I could see a smudge under the Zagg right on one of the true depth cameras or sensors. So 40 mins back and it turned out just needed to be pressed down harder there than I was willing to because sometimes adhesive doesn’t grab over the cameras as easy. I wish the Zagg cutout was over the whole true depth system vs just the main camera area. Anyway, flawless FaceID now and I’m a happy camper.

Noticed on 12.1 the touch sensitivity was off a little. After upgrading to 12.2 its flawless with fingers and pencil. Luvvitt case from Amazon I still had for now. Zugu case inbound. Will also consider Logitech thin keyboard folio.

First one was cellular but paranoid about bending. Got a mini 5 cellular last week to take care over out and about.

Thanks Apple!

Edited to add also drove 40 miles for Zagg on the mini. Perfect install first time.

I literally started a macrumors account just so that I can save people the trouble that I went through with this whole ordeal of the touch sensitivity/ballistic glass problems.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, after more than a year of non stop issues, you can now put aside any discussion as to what you should and shouldn’t buy to fix the touch screen issues, as there is only one company that has 100% fixed the issue, at least that I would trust with this. That company is tech armor, and they are incredible. I’ve used and recommended them for years for my ballistic glass screen protectors, as they make an truly great product....and they have now, just this month, released the “Ultra-thin .25mm ballistic glass for iPad Pro 11 inch.” And I am so happy to announce that it 100% fixed all the issues I was having.

Just a quick recap, I purchased the original, much thicker version of the tech armor ballistic glass back when the iPad Pro 11 was released. There were definitely touch sensitivity issues, but not like described with some other brands from some other users. The issues were minimal enough that I thought I had a bad iPad and even ended up exchanging it for a new one through the AppleCare program (this was long before this thread even existed). So, immediately tech armor was ahead of the competition. But once I figured out what was actually happening, I was bummed as hell, realizing I had an iPad that wouldn’t work the way it was intended unless I exposed it to the elements without protection. It lasted that way for nearly a year, unable to send messages without buttons being skipped over, basically making it impossible to send emails or text messages without losing my mind from frustration, or scrolling through a web page and occasionally having to swipe my finger more than once just to get it to acknowledge my movements.
However, due to the issues surrounding all ballistic glass on the market, tech armor decided to make their own ultra thin glass that would meet expectations for pro users. I can verify that, as usual, tech armor has come out with a great product that works perfectly.

So, if you are unsure which product to buy, just save yourself the trouble and get it right the first time with the new ultrathin .25 mm ballistic glass for iPad Pro 11 by tech armor. You won’t regret it, I promise. Also, they have an amazing warrantee on their product. If you break it, they replace it for free. All you have to do is pay for shipping. I will post an amazon link to the product below.

As stated in here and confirmed by many, 12.2 likely fixed the glass screen protector touch sensitivity issues for any and all brands.

Is this confirmed or hearsay? I've been using the amfilm glass for months now and it's been nearly flawless. I haven't noticed anything different since updating to 12.2.

Not sure what you define as hearsay, but several users in this thread including myself report a complete fix. I had an 11" awhile back and returned it for this issue. The 11" I bought last week also initially was hit and miss on 12.1 with the Zagg protector on, but as soon as I updated to 12.2 it became perfect with finger and pencil.

I also saw it on a major tech publication like Appleinsider or TechCrunch but couldn't find it again. I did find this:

12.2 fixes the problem for sure.

This truly is interesting...

I held off on buying the IPP11 for months post launch since the issue appeared to be hardware based. I finally bought one around the holidays when amfilm glass was confirmed to work without issue (I don't use any touch device without first installing glass). Fast forward four months and now it was software all along, and all glass from any brand works now?

I'd love to find out the why and how, since touching the metal side bezel was the 'fix' in the past.

Honestly I think it had something to do with the update or change to usb-c, since the problems wouldn't occur if you were plugged in, or touching the metal housing of the iPad. The software update simply disabled something.

Either way, it is fixed, and I couldn’t be happier! No way I’m using my $1,700 iPad without a screen protector.

Just a word of caution. Do NOT try and use any of the glass screen protectors currently available for the new iPad Pros. The touch response becomes SERIOUSLY wonky. It is so bad I thought I had a hardware issue with my brand new 11" iPad Pro.
My glass screen protector works perfectly.

Yup, a seriously bad problem, it may be the defective new screens. I tried at least three screen protectors. All the same.

Also, I have had three disastrous clear cases from a flawless dealer for nine years.

I will prove this is I’m not believed, the metal is so thin the case if anywhere decent is warping the case causing super inconsistent screen touches.

To prove this I bought an only available fulfilled by Apple otter case. It was so tight that I felt the case was damaging the iPad 11 pro. I don’t use it any more.

I bought a MediaDevil plastic screen protector specifically because of the problems people had been having with screen responsiveness. Unfortunately, in spite of that, I still had problems. And they were huge fingerprint magnets. Maybe a glass protector would have been even worse, but I wasn’t too happy.

After updating to iOS 12.2, the screen seems to magically be better! It’s hard to imagine how an iOS update could fix the responsiveness problem, but so far so good!!

Will keep a close eye on this, then will have to decide whether to ditch the premium $$ I spent on the plastic protectors to replace them with a glass one that sheds fingerprints better. To be clear, I’ve been pleased with the quality of the MediaDevil protector, but the fingerprints drive me crazy.

It’s like magic lol. I have no idea how apple could’ve fixed it lol. It is amazing.
