I'm also experiencing an issue with my iPhone XS and the mobile carrier in my country.
After the iOS 16 upgrade, cellular data has stopped working (calls are working fine).
Yes it seems Apple really borked users with smaller cell carriers on this update. I remember in the past occasionally a carrier update would pop up. I don't have an option in my settings to do that manually.

I believe that if you navigate to Settings>General>About and there is a carrier update, it will popup a dialog box within a few seconds.

Same here with Vodafone uk. Unstable signal and slow data (even when it shows 5g it’s almost unusable and I was left struggling with maps and using parking apps on trips the past few days between Edinburgh and Northumberland)

I opened a ticket with my mobile carrier and the issue was fixed a few hours later.

Thanks for your help however! Really appreciate it!
Well, my mobile carrier contacted me to ask if I still have the issue and they said that they didn't do anything on their side in order to fix it.

Now my wife has the same issue... Just happened to her.

Page Plus (Verizon towers) data stopped working for me on my Xr. I deleted and reinstalled APN tracfone.vzwentp and still nothing. I swapped SIM card into an iPhone 11 running iOS15 and data is running.

Normal service in the UK. I've just moved back from Switzerland and it's driving me insane...

EE seems to be a bit flaky too.

Over on a Page Plus Facebook forum some people are saying the 16.0.2 update has fixed data. I will try for myself. Updated my Xr 16.0.2 it did not solve data problem. I have read somebody bought and installed a new SIM card and that cured the data problem, for now.

Was your data not working until you updated to 16.1, what carrier?
It was working fine on 16. Figured out that it works on 16.1 intermittently as resetting network settings was only temporary. I have Mint (T-Mobile towers), who I've heard takes a bit to get modem firmware upgraded with breaking releases. So far: Apple Music refuses to stream, iMessage is sporadic, Safari just stalls. It's a mess. I mean I can't even open my darn garage door (HK) and have to resort to the clicker *gasp*. Thinking of downgrading till 16.2 before Apple stops signing 16.0.

[UPDATE] Tried downgrading but since the iCloud backup was from 16.1 it forced me to upgrade BUT data does seem to work so far. Haven’t left the house yet but we’ll see …
