Am I the only person who doesn't want/need a single USB-A port? Would love a hub but I switched everything to USB-C years ago.
You want everyone to throw out their perfectly good USB-A devices, peripherals, and accessories and replace them all with USB-C equivalents to avoid USB-A ports? Seems wasteful.

Most Audio gear is using USB-A/USB-B connections still. Its not just about USB-C devices. Look at a RME ADI-2 DAC
That's true and I realize most audio people aren't going to replace older super expensive equipment anytime soon. However I already replaced my keyboard cable with a cheap USB-B to USB-C cable, my Universal Audio interfaces are Thunderbolt 3, and my external HDs are all USB-C.

Sometimes it feel like I'm the only person who moved on from USB-A when every new hub has more and more USB-As and fewer USB-Cs when that's all I need. :/

No, but there are plenty of USB-A hubs. A hub with say 3-4 USB-C would be great for us who don’t have a lot of old peripherals that require a USB-A, but do have a lot of USB-C for iPads, phones, in-ear headphone cases etc.

They're portable hubs.

Sure, but why not just have a USB C port so you can decide the length of cable you want to use? Include a 6 inch one cable in the box, but at least that gives people the choice of (like me) hiding them under the desk to keep it tidy.

Wat? Do they think heat travels through the attached cables? Or are they talking about connected flash driver or SD cards? Never had a little portable hub heat up, even those that pass power.
It's probably for the 10 Gbps ethernet port. Most 10 Gbps ethernet thunderbolt dongles are massive and get quite hot.
Never mind - it's only 1 Gbps. (And I don't see any way to delete my comment..)

I totally agree.

That'd be great. I hate the short cord and won't buy one because of it (thought about getting an extension but none support higher wattage charging). Already have a small hub like this and while it's great for traveling, it's not what I want at my desktop.

I use this USB C extension cable and it charges my 2021 MBP just fine. I use it to extend a Ugreen USB-C hub, very similar to the one in the OP.

Hmmm, doesn't mention how much power it'll pass. Would be a little concerned it wouldn't do 100W for my new MBP.

Why do these hubs always have 3 inch long fixed cables? Kind of defeats the point of tidying your desk if you can't put the thing more than 6 inches away from your Mac...
After having 2 Satechi and one other hub fail at the cable I bought this one with a removable cable. I use it with a 6 ft. USB-C to USB-C cable.

Hubs put in USB-A instead of C because it's cheap. From like 2016-2019, zero multi-USB-C hubs were on the market. The chip for that just didn't exist. Now you can get them, but it's like $40 for a 4-port (so net +3) hub. I'm sure it'll come down over time.

This is also the reason I still buy USB-A accessories. I won't run out of ports.

The Pro Hub Max has a lot of overlap with the new Pro Hub Mini that's only just started shipping from Satechi. If you don't need extra SD ports, it seems to offer a better selection of ports

Why do they put USB-A connection on a mac device 2021? Every Mac users more or less uses usb-c. I have replaced all my device that I use usb-c since many years. They could have the same speed but just put like 6 usb-c connectors on a hub and I will order instantly
Why use USB-C when all the hubs have A on them? You created a problem for yourself.

Yep, why are there so few hubs on the market like this?! It's a far better solution.

What's the REAL reason for these adaptors being so ridiculously expensive?

They are especially expensive considering that many Satechi hubs are just reboxed Chinese boards/designs that can be had for 10-30 Euro/USD on AliExpress. See for example:

Is Uni a good brand? Everyone/anyone have good or bad luck with these?
