Even if all the FaceID IR dot blaster/receiver + camera hardware stays the same, I should think it will still be noticeably "upgraded" through the use of a more powerful A12, with the likely increases in AI computational power.
Yes, some improvements to FaceID would require wider/more dots, and a higher power blaster, for longer range and wider detection angles. But speed and accuracy should be able to be improved with better ML hardware, and landscape unlocking should just require some software improvements.
