what are you gonna search for? Your applications? It would be a completely useless feature; all it would add to the iPhone is clutter.

Actually A contact search, and a search for the iPod would be VERY handy! :D

Sorry about the run on's and no paragraph's. I get passionate when I write. Sorry.

Look I understand what you are all saying but come on we are paying beta testers here. Sure no one held a gun to my head to buy a 8 gig iPhone, however Apples TV marketing campaign was good too. I think the iPhone is great! But has a lot of Issues for a "gold" release.

Just patch the problems already! The firmware in the phone is several weeks old before the phone shipped!

As for the idiot who said my coke analogy was wrong! Give me a better one smart a$$!

aren't you people happy its not january and the thing is actually at retail? i personally would love a software update but thats what you go through being a early adopter these days, my xbox 360 that i got dec 05 has gotten a rrod, my launch day Wii has a bad graphics card, (ps3 shockingly bug free), my sisters first gen black macbook CPU fan died and she had to send it to apple, and her power adapter cord melted, its just a chance you take buying the first of anything! im just glad there have been very little hardware problems, software can be fixed.

I don't really care about updates. I know some people do and that's fine.

What I want to do, the iPhone does just fine.

Could it do more stuff? Sure but if they never changed it, I'd be fine with that.

Boy, you are the one making statements, you are the one that should find relevant analogies.
It's not my fault if the analogy you posted is completely idiot. (Coke losing millions after changing name on their key product=Apple making millions on a new product BUT they don't say when the patch is coming...ROTFL)

I totally agree, this is not a must have feature on a phone.

I'm not so sure. As the iPhone replaces more and more of our desktop/laptop systems, this feature might prove handy. In 1 tap (spotlight icon in upper right hand corner) you could search both your local iPhone for music, videos, appointments, contacts, to dos, podcasts, images, documents, and the web for typical stuff.

w/e, as everything, it will be Jobs' way or the redmond way.
