Almost check below is out of date. Some is working but not work with my iphone 6. Recently I found link to check iphone unlock status with full info about carrier and factory, model check:

IMO the best way to check to see if your phone is unlocked is to buy an unactivated T-Mobile SIM card on ebay. Should only cost a few dollars.

Make sure you buy the correct SIM size, micro, nano etc. Just swap the SIM with yours; if after a few minutes you get the T-Mobile logo, your phone is unlocked.
