Guys, do you actually think its Craig responding?
Pretty sure, yes. We discussed a few tech things, he then handed me over to the specialist group dealing with the matter within Apple. A conversation ensued about the issue which resulted in mentioned group coming back to me over several months.

Honestly, as per my post, I still think its a team that respond on their behalf, then hand you across to the specialist group. Theres nothing to say it is actually him, and I doubt these guys have time to sift through thousands of emails.

I know its fun to be skeptical of everything. But it is really them. have had some conversations with him myself in the past. Steve used to respond to emails all of the time

ummmm it was his email? He choose to share it. He decides the privacy of his communication maybe?

*shame thrown back on you
It's a sad state of affairs if people in todays society think it is ok to post the private communication of others in a public forum and make excuses for them to do so.

Whenever I see Craig during an Apple event, he always strikes me as a nice guy but a no non-sense guy. I can tell that if I worked for him he would be all smiles when I do well. However, if I screw up, I think that big smile would be gone and he would be mad!! LOL. Anywhoo it is wonderful that he took the time to reply.

Guys, do you actually think its Craig responding?
Similarly, when emailing Tim, do you think its him responding?

These guys are far too busy to be sitting at a desk checking the thousands of public facing emails they must receive, or even respond to them. It's most likely a dedicated team that filters through emails, responding where a response is required, and sending anything of more major importance to the correct teams. I very much doubt Craig or Tim are sitting at a desk responding to public emails when they have thousands of employees under them.
It's certainly possible and plausible. There was once a story about an Apple user calling about his dragged out, delayed repair on his Mac Pro. The person who picked up the phone answered, this is Steve, how may I help you? The caller said, Steve Jobs? He responded, Yes!

What is wrong with you?? why the need to post his reply which is obviously a private communication between you and him. Why can't people keep things private anymore. Shame on you.
People want privacy, but they don’t know what to do with it. This includes not knowing how to enjoy something without others knowing they’re enjoying something.

The only sad thing here is your responses to this thread. There was nothing private in this e-mail. It was was a tech question that received a tech answer. o_O I think Hair Force One will be okay.

I know. I’m sure Craig never imagined that such a deeply personal and confidential communication would ever end up online. What a betrayal of confidence.

Some might be tempted to think less of him for spelling his name in all-lowercase, but I know he never intended for the world to know that about him so I refuse to judge.

I get what you are driving at, but many in the company shared Steve Job's ethos about engaging with users. It's such a simple thing, and like with the YT videos Craig has recently been involved with, it is Apple reaching out in ways it can't do at present (and clearly was doing before). Sure they don't read everyone, but what does happen, and it's been confirmed, their team will flag emails they think worth responding to, based on set objectives, issues etc, and forward it to them and they'll respond.
Steve was known for trawling through emails and picking some to reply to, having had one responded to by both Tim and Steve, I can assure you it happens. I've also had emails that have been designated to certain teams to respond to, but those don't make the news!

I am quite sure that Steve Jobs’ legendary “You’re holding it wrong” email was not written by his staff.

He's just another millionaire raking it in while his employees make 100x less at LEAST. Stop glorying these people.
I don’t think anyone is glorifying anyone. He’s worked his way up to be a top exec at one of the most successful companies to exist. That’s something for him to be proud of and frankly none of your business.
Anyone is capable of becoming successful, it depends on how far you push as to whether you earn millions or not.

Don‘t think so. First, it was signed using his name. Second, they could have sent me off to someone right away.
And yes, someone may triage the emailbox first…

Tim Cook has actually said he reads and responds to customer emails. I saw an interview with him where he was asked and said that yes he does.

If he’s a millionaire by inheritance you might have a point. He, however, get to this by his own hands/brain. That’s respectable.

Executives at this level basically only need a pen and legal pad. The final step in being important. They do not start their day with opening their inbox like you and I do. Their inboxes are very very filtered by others in advance to sort out only the relevant emails to be delivered.

I highly doubt Craig wrote this answer, but it is really not that relevant if the answer is correct. :)

Of course his email is filtered. The PR team probably picked 10 out of 10k emails sent to him since WWDC for his executive assistant to whittle down to three for him to choose. Doesn’t mean he didn’t answer it.

did you really need to post this though? his reply is what i'd have expected they done. it's quite common sense in how they've implemented it. no harm in you emailing them but this post just comes off as you bragging. oh look at me i got an email from craig. congratulations

For crying out loud, it’s not like Craig was sharing his SSN or other PII; He’s a major executive at a publicly traded company, clarifying questions about a recent product announcement. He knows his communications can and will very likely be shared. There is literally nothing wrong with sharing this email! Seems that some of you people are taking Apple’s privacy commitment to illogical extremes…
